Renfrewshire / Re: Looking for someone to do a Paisley Poor Law lookup for me

I had a look through the index for the Poor Records.  Selected a few (the only Joseph around that date and Margaret x 3) but had no luck. I'll be back up next week and have a look at the other ones too.
Sorry! :(

If Margaret is listed in the Poor House, she too would have required to register.
Can you give me a list of their names (children and Grandchildren too) and I'll check the index for you.

Kris   You are a Star  ;).

1911  - Did you locate this info from the Ellis Island records? I had a look there but didn't find this gem.

The names and dates work in.   I have been doing some digging from here and find that part of the parternal family went out to Philadelphia to live, so although he gave a maternal uncle's name on ships records, he may have gone to a Aunt in Philadelphia....

Many thanks for all the input, I have been very fortunate in finding you all.

Kris,

Thank you for puting time and effort in to this.

They had no children, so no family names passed on...... :(

Just located a Ada Emily Dawson born in Birmingham in 1884!  Dates work in.

But why Swindon?

I'm heading to States soon, so maybe I'll knock on some doors and go in search of certificates.....

thanks anyway :)

Krisesjoint

Many thanks for searching out this information but I already had it.  This only thing I don't have is Ada Emily's maiden name.  Not once on any of the information I have found, does it give her own name.   I thought that the 1922 address in Swindon would have helped.

When they returned to America in 1922, My Great Grandmother went with them, for a holiday and in 1931 they came to Paisley to celebrate the Golden Wedding of his parents (my Great Grandparents).

Many thanks for the help sofar
