Thank you Lu.
I did think that maybe the case.

I also found a John William GRAY d.1977 Retired Laborer at Te Kawa.

Now I did look where that was in the North Island.

But wondered whether what newspaper would be for that area.

I also found a John William Gray in Oamaru Cemetery RSA but 11 July 1968 at 89 years which is a maybe  also???

It was by reading the Probate for their father John Gray of Hokitika 1908 that names of the John William Gray and Frances Gray came up that he knew nothing of.

Appreciate your help. Thank you.

Helping a friend find family of his grandfather he didn't know anything of.

John William Gray son of John and Frances Mary/Mary Frances GRAY nee SATCHELL.
Westland area.  Born 1880.
His WW1 Attestation Service says he born Wanganui, which I do wonder at.
But is there a Wanganui in Westland??

Haven't got a definite marriage as several men with same name.
But he was single in 1917 on his Army record.

Also in his Army records there is a death record 23.9.1968 Hamilton.
Have looked re cemeteries but did not find him.

Looked at Archives and wonder he is the one re Maori Hamilton files 1968.
He would not be a Maori.
But maybe his wife could be.

Just need some help trying to finish off this man family sheet.
His great nephew knows nothing at all of him.

Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Thanks Lu.
What say we leave till i get computer back and hopefully will manage upgrade etc.

He also asked re another name yesterday.
But think one name at a time is good.

Also suggested he also use rootschat as it is a wonderful lot of researchers who willingly help.

Get back Thursday night of Friday.

Thank you.

Hi Lucy .
That I don't know if he has any certificates for his families.

Only been helping him this week with this inquiry.

Will ask him and get back to you which maybe Friday.
As my computer playing up and computer going to fix it man later this afternoon.

Did email Terry and said similar  to what i had said re Lucy, possibly was looked after by James William Jary.
His parents would have been about 60's and James unmarried may have taken on family responsibilities for them?

Will let you know of anything comes in before computer goes.
Thank you

Thank you Lucy2.
After I got your post went to family Search and had a read of WILLS etc for JARY
None for Lucy Jary that I found

Email from Terry this morning he has read post which is great.
He then has to think whether he accepts what has been found.
And with no one living who would possibly know, has a few different ways to think about info.

Appreciate your help, has been amazing.

I also have been thinking and wonder if James William Jary being the eldest son took his sister Lucy in after becoming pregnant etc.
Can you imagine in that era how it would have gone down a daughter becomming pregnant not married.
Poor woman would have been treated possibly no better than a leper.
Just my thoughts.

Thank you.

Thank you that is wonderful.
Think that maybe the answer. Great that you found the Electoral Roll 1928 with names there.

I had looked at the 1896 and 1911 Er and Lucy wasn't on them.
So thank you very much Lucy2 and Johnf04 and minniehaha.
Your help very much appreciated.
