Pretty sure this was the maiden name of my GGG-Grandmother.

She was born approx 1845-1847 and gives her birthplace as Oughtibridge, Ecclesfield and Ingleby Bridge in different census'

Thanks

Lancashire Lookup Requests / James Bailey 1861 census - Please
« on: Thursday 17 October 13 23:01 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am trying to find out more about the earlier life of my GGG-Grandfather JAMES BAILEY

The earliest census I have him in, is 1871. Searching earlier census', although unable to access the full details, I think he is on the 1861 census in Rochdale.

He was born in Staffordshire and lived his later life in Rochdale. I know he was there in '71 and it seems he was there in '61.
He was born about 1831 possibly in Rushton area of Staffordshire.

Thanks

Jonathan

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / William Wild - 1841 and 1851 census lookup please
« on: Saturday 12 October 13 00:09 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have a fair amount of information on my GGG-Grandfather later in his life, but not alot about his early life.

He is quite consistent with his age on the census' - in 1861 he is 36 and 1871 he is 46. He is always listed as a Plumber and always gives his place of birth as Wolverhampton.

I'm not 100% about this, but I think he marries Mary Ann Serginson in 1845 in Manchester.

They live at 21 Islington Street, Altrincham in 1861 and 41 Trafford Street, Castleton, Rochdale in 1871.

I have no record of William in 1851. If Mary Ann was his wife, I do have her at her mother's in Lambeth, London in 1851. Married but minus a husband. Where ever is William?

Seeing as how my first real evidence of William is in Altrincham in 1861, I looked at possible William Wild's living in Altrincham in 1841.
I have found a good match.
Am I right in thinking on the '41 census that place of birth isn't recorded?

Still would like to see who this William Wild aged 15 is living with.

Thanks

Jonathan

Sorry I just realised after I posted that only sort of looking for information in regards to Staffordshire. The truth is I don't know where he is. Could be still in his home town of Wolverhampton.
Hope thats ok, feel free to move it to the Cheshire board if needs be.

Thanks

As I said in my orginal post, good chance those Ives are related to my Ives family.
Anyone have any advice as to where to go next with these names?

Hello,

My GGGG-Grandfather Jonas Ives his wife Sarah and their children are down in the 1841 census in the Wortley district. This is a quite rural area even now so I have just searched for all the people named IVES living in that district on the 1841 census.
There are 16 persons recorded.

Can anyone with access to the census give me a breakdown of who lives with who etc.

With that few people named IVES there is a good bet they are all related to my IVES family.

Thanks

Jonathan

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / Re: Freear family - possible emigrants
« on: Thursday 11 July 13 00:51 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

Sorry about breaking the rules, I didn't do it on purpose. Plain forgot, though how people are to track living relatives down on here when that is a rule, I don't know.

Seems I jumped the gun somewhat, thinking the family had emigrated. All because of a mistake of mine regarding the name of the son!

My excuse is that I was researching another part of my tree first and one of those people had the same first name that I mistakenly gave to this Freear.

Thank you for being so eagle eyed and pointing out my mistake.

It can be tough enough researching without making schoolboy errors like that!

Sorry again about giving the names of living persons

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / Freear family - possible emigrants
« on: Thursday 04 July 13 21:55 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have been researching the Freear family who lived in the Lancaster, Morecambe area in the 1940s/1950s

They were Jack B Freear (b.1925 Skipton) and his wife Hildegard (nee Klusick) who married in the district of Lancaster in 1950.
They had two children in the same district, first in 1951 and then in 1955.

I have despite the rare surname come up with no marriage for the children, nothing on electional records, they just seem to vanish. Which is why I am thinking they may have emigrated.

Don't have a clue where to however!

Some ever hopeful google searches as brought about zero clues.

Hope someone can help me out,

Jonathan

Moderator comment: names of living people removed in accordance with Rootschat policies

Hello,

I have been using this very helpful guide:

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,533258.0.html

However I have hit a snag. I can get as far as step 11, the example given (Lloyd 55/139) is simple enough but my index number is 83/1/13 for one William Frederick Sarginson.

The reason Lloyd is simple is because its vol.55, Death notice 139
Sarginson can't follow that rule. I have got as far a volume 83 which in the front of there is a list A-Z of names - Under 'S' is William Frederick Sarginson 83/1/13.

Still I did go through all 293 images and no Sarginson.

For some of the other names there that are listed like Lloyd, I was able to find easy but anyone like Sarginson - nothing.

Where are these people???

Thank you

Jonathan
