in 1891 john is married to Elizabeth and in 1901 Elizabeth has the shop. Im not sure who this Mary is?? I can send you the censuses via email from 1861-1901 if you would like via email. Im not in Stafford no, I emigrated fm UK a year and a half ago ;-)

Re henry george, how does he fit in relation to richard and caroline...

John and Carolines dad was Richard and Ann Richard b 1806, Richards dad was Thomas and Mary Thomas born 1760 Baswich

Yr Henry George's father's father's father's father's brother's son's son is Jenkinson, Richard b 1806..the dad of Caroline and John, gosh needed my family tree program to work that one out!

If u would like the census copies I have feel free to inbox me your email and i will happily send them to you.

Hi Cat, am happy to help if i can, i have Lilians dad in my tree, just not exactly sure what you want help with exactly Widow Jenkinson was Caroline. Her brother was John. Caroline was the proprietor her brother John was the manager. Caroline became a widow when her hub George thorpe died. The  assumed Widow Jenkinson was actually the sister in law of the original owner Caroline Jenkinson (widow for 2 years before she died). and therefore Elizabeth was not a true Jenkinson by birth but by marriage the café was handed down through John`s Children. The children`s aunty Caroline was the original owner who passed it onto her brother, who passed it onto his wife, who passed it onto one of their children (will have to wait until the next census to find out which child inherited it).

Thanks for your replies everyone sorry its taken me a while to get back. I contacted Fife library and they searched their documents as well as being passed on for FHS involvement and noone seems to know where it is, leading to the conclusion that it isnt in Fife.  Im now utterly stumped..

Hi Sheila, I dont know how far back your Oswald research goes, but im back to abt 1580 in Scotland.. I am the 8x gt granddaughter of Thomas Ridley Oswalds GGG Granddad..he goes down one line and i am down another from the same family of brothers, hence us being distant cousins, the Oswalds originally came from Kirkcaldy and Kinghorn, shipbuilders, politicians, military background, lawyers, ships captains writers provosts bailies etc..My gran was Catherine Oswald.
If you need any info I will be happy to share what I know, I have researched Thomas Ridley and his family and have collected nearly 200 names of his ships and have a photo of him etc etc. If you like i can pass my email to you via the inbox. :)

Hi Sheila,

She was born abt 1852 Enniskerry Wicklow Ireland, and i believe she may have died in 1908 in Gateshead, although i havent checked that fully. Her hub is a distant cousin of mine, Thomas Ridley Oswald, who was the 4th largest shipbuilder in the UK during the late 1800's. I found it interesting that she was originally a servant/governess in 1871 because Thomas marries her in 1875, and because Thomas was obviously a well to do man, I believe thats how they met, maybe she was working for a family he was friendly with or she may have been in his employ at some stage..which is a little bit upstairs downstairs  ;). I cant find anymore on her lineage, sorry, but i can help with anything to do with her hubs side the Oswalds, as my gran was an Oswald.
