Technical Help / Re: Ancestry Site Certificate help please

Hi Jaylay,
Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately, repairing disk permissions didn't make any difference! Bother. (Good to be reminded of Disk Utility though, so thank you for that.) As to overriding the warnings, I suppose I could, but I am also curious about why it is happening and whether it is something I can fix or not.
Thanks again,
Stephanie

Technical Help / Ancestry Site Certificate help please
« on: Thursday 17 May 07 19:25 BST (UK)  »
I have been trying over the past couple of days to log into Ancestry.co.uk. I can get onto the website, but when I log on, it comes up with a notice saying that it cannot verify the security of the certificate, and a bunch of other warnings. Does anyone know how to fix/update the security certificates or whatever has to be done?

I can log onto ancestry.com, not a problem, except as none of my ancestors are in the US, now I have had my 3 day free trial and decided to pay for access for the few people I didn't get around to looking for, I would rather pay £9 ($18) a month than $29.

I have heard that it could be a computer clock thing, but mine is fine. I have an Intel Mac, using Mozilla Firefox. I haven't changed anything recently and I was able to log on a week or so ago.

If anyone has any good ideas, i would really appreciate the help.
Thanks, Stephanie

That would be terrific. At least we have a better idea now of where to look! Sorry for the bit of a run around.

Thanks Bill,
Also, her father died when she was 10, so that may have set her off on a downward spiral.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for that. It didn't say anything about parents of either Thomas or Ann did it, or where they were living or from??

Does anyone know what girls went here for? Fallen women, perhaps?

I found an ancestor living there, who is only 15, and the rest of her family were living in Lewes, Sussex. It seemed a bit out of the way for one so young.

Any clues? Thanks,
Stephanie

I am looking  the marriage of Thomas Coltman to Ann (or Mary Ann) Daft in Fleckney, around Oct 1813.

Also wondering, if possible, to look for a birth of their son, Job,  around 1821-22, in Fleckney. He is not to be found in Leicester city, so wonder if he was born before the parents moved in to St Margarets.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Alan,
Don't think so, but then I don't know enough about them at this point!
