Census and Resource Discussion / Re: 1911 census can't sign in
« on: Thursday 16 April 09 21:46 BST (UK)  »
Thanks all for replying.

Whatever you do DON'T remove 1911 cookies.  It will remove "my records" and you will have to pay again to view them.  Even if you've already downloaded images to your computer it still means you won't get the other RG78 records included in the price when they become available (summertime they say) nor I suppose, the infirmity column in 2012 unless you pay again.  I made sure I read all the small print before I signed up.

I got a reply from them just now and, unbelievably they are telling me to remove cookies!

Just wanted some guidance from all you helpful folks.

Where is it best to search for the military record of a person who was a Major in the British Army?

Definitely served in WWII.

Have no idea of regiment.

I wondered if Ancestry records could be checked for the date?

I know the name of the church but that's it.

On second thoughts, I might get the cert, so the GRO ref would be useful.

Thanks for your help

Census and Resource Discussion / Re: 1911 census - duration of credits?
« on: Wednesday 04 March 09 17:22 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks both.

I wonder if duration is the same for credits bought on 1911 site as for those bought on findmypast...

Wouldn't be surprised if there was a difference. As I said, can't see anything about duration on 1911 site.

It's predatory.  We should be able to use credits whenever we like, and trade them in when there is a price increase.
