Not to sure with some of the parents of today!!!

Good point Keith,

And that is why the staff should kick them all out if the parents don't have the sense to leave themselves.   ;D

You may have guessed,  bad behaviour,  and lack of respect are just 2 of my hobby horses.

I think it is good to encourage children to take an interest - although I think the librarian should have the authority to ask anyone (child or adult) to leave if they are making a nuisance of themselves.

I think it would be good to have specially targetted 'days' for young researchers.......

Good points Kathy,   ;D

And if they are to be banned until adults,  they will have no chance to be taken there by an adult and educated on the behavior expected.

Technical Help / Re: My computer has a blue screen

Earley,

We welcome advice from all members.  You don't have to be part of any club,  except RootsChat,  to offer advice on our boards.  If techie matters are your forte,  jump in whenever you can.  ;D

And your point about protection is a good one.  For a novice it can be difficult to understand why you would need software of these 3 types to provide the fullest protection.  A lot of our users are genealogy experts,  and came to computers later.

Glad you could give something back.

A very interesting question. ;D  To which I voted NO.

It depends on the children,  some are perfectly capable of behaving themselves whereever you take them.  Children who are being noisy or disruptive should be removed,  and the staff should ensure that the parents take action if necessary.

It is a shame not to encourage children to take an interest in books and old records.  Lots of children are fascinated by history,  and lots of adults could not care less.

On the other hand,  I have seen some adults who ought to have been removed from my local library.  My daughter,  aged 10,  regularly comes along with me,  and she is also amazed that some grown-ups have no idea how to behave in a library.  The use of mobile phones and loud conversations is definately on the increase.  >:(

It should not be a rule based on your age,  but on your ability to behave considerately to others using the resources.  And parents are best placed to judge whether their children are capable of doing so.

Hi Ted,

Thank you for sharing the sad story of your Grandparents with us,  hopefully it will help you make connections and further your knowledge of the subject.

I am moving this topic into the Canada Emigrants board where it will be seen by researchers with Canadian Links and expertise.

Good Luck,

Trish,

I don't think I have seen the link before,  and it is an excellent one thank you.  It makes interesting reading even if you have already decided on your package and want to see how it compares.  Mine is no. 5,  but still no. 1 with me.  ;D

For someone thinking of splashing out it is a real help,  it assesses on a wide range of criteria,  and makes fascinating reading.

Thanks for sharing,

Kazza.
