That sounds very probable.  Thanks, Stan  :)

Indeed she was living in what appear to be lodgings at the time.

Occupation Interests / Outdoor Cook?
« on: Saturday 18 June 11 11:33 BST (UK)  »
I have a relative described as an "outdoor cook" in 1901 in South Shields.

Does anyone know anything about the outdoor aspect of this occupation?  I can only think of 'street food'... and if that's anywhere near the truth, does anyone know what would have been on the menu?

Thanks for looking  :)

Thanks very much for the info shellyesq  :)

I don't think that lady has any connection to my Robertsons either.

Among others I don't know about yet there are two female Robertson grandchildren who may have married and changed names: Sarah L b. c1917 and Barbara G b. c1919 in Milton, Norfolk, Mass.  where most of the family still were in 1920.

My brother has a photo of a late 30s early 40s wedding in Massachussetts...but it's in Scotland and he's now in Wales  :(   I also have a photo of a girl (*) born Sep 7th 1947 (I think).  All mysteries yet to be revealed!

Do you think parish records might help?  And would I be able to access them do you know?

Thanks again  :)

Hi everybody - I'm looking for some suggestions.

Some rellies lived in the BAH around the early 1940s.  I have unsigned postcards from them of the house with and without the big elm which was blown down in 1938, "several years ago" as the postcard says.

I've gathered from a website that the house was sold to Arthur Stone Dewing (of Newton) in 1935.  I very much doubt my rellies were connected to such an eminent man except as tenants.

Is there any way I can find out who lived there in the early 1940s?  They are probably related to my Robertsons who emigrated to Massachussetts in 1887.

Thanks for looking  :)

The second signature looked straightaway like Susannah Bradfield to me - but haven't got my glasses on  ;D

Ooops - sorry!  Looking at the wrong signature...now off to find my glasses  ::)

Thanks Jim - I'd hoped it would have been a bit later, but can't override fashion evidence  ;D

Could I ask what date you and others might give to this one too?

Very gratefully,

Hello you clever photo people! :)

Could somebody help date this photo, please?  It would help unravel a few mysteries  ???

A quick clean up would be appreciated too, if anyone has time and it's scanned to an appropriate dpi  ;D

Thanks for looking,

finta
