Yorkshire (West Riding) / Mills, dance halls and pubs in Bradford 1889 - 1920
« on: Monday 11 January 16 11:40 GMT (UK)  »
I have a recording of my grandmother speaking about her youth.  She mentions mills, dance halls and pubs that I can't find on the internet and wondered if anyone could suggest some web sites to check out.  She was born in 1879 and started work part time at 10.  She talks about Christopher (Kit) Ward mill and Servants dance hall amongst others. Some help would be great, thanks

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Football medal?

My uncle has recently died amongst his possessions is a silver medal which is engraved, on the back, Bingley S.F.A Final 1939.
I assume it's school football as he would be around 14 then but I am unable to trace any information.  Is anyone able to point me in the right direction, thanks

Again, many thanks for your efforts Martin.

I will certainly attach the certificate etc to my records.

Fred was my husband's uncle and until yesterday we weren't aware he had been killed in the war so it's great to have all this information so quickly.

Best wishes Judith

Many thanks Martin for all your hard work.

I can now add his details to my family tree.

I don't suppose his records will be around, I am aware that the vast majority of them were destroyed.

Many thanks to both of you for your quick replies.

This Fred looks like a good starting place, shame his parents aren't listed.  Will assume this is him for now and see what else I can find out.
