Hi Michelle,

I have a little bit of information about this Hallsworth family. I will send you a personal message.

Thanks battling, I'm still interested.

Although John HOLMES is on my "too difficult" pile at the moment, having been born before general registration began, in an obscure part of Yorkshire, and having a very common name.

Yes, I believe all 20 entries relate to Noahs in my tree. I now have 15 different Noahs whom I can link to my tree, and there are references in registers to infant/children Noah deaths which probably also fit in but it's not always clear where.

The Noah and Margaret marriage is the earliest information I have. He is at the head of the tree at the moment. I haven't yet come across a birth for this Noah, though I can see that there were STRINGFELLOWS living in the area at the time.

The burial in 1754 is the same man. There is a reference to his drowning in the accounts of Lancashire coroner John Brownsword (at Lancashire Records Office).

The Noah who died in 1888 is the gr grandson of the first Noah.

Thanks for your interest and help everyone. If anyone can find a Noah birth sometime around 1720, I'd be very grateful.

Yes, I have a transcript of the removal order for Noah and Margaret. It just says they "came lately to inhabit in Parbold" and were likely to become chargeable, so they sent them back to Wrightington.

Beccy,

Yes, I had come to the same conclusion about James Stringfellow.

Lots of the Lancashire Stringfellows appear to be descended from Noah and Margaret, but I don't have anything linking to earlier generations.

The information about Noah's death came from another researcher, but she wasn't sure of the original source - possibly a report in a local newspaper.

I will try and pm you as well.

Thanks Shane.

I knew it would be simple once I knew how.

Ireland / Very basic question about Irish BMD certificates

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick here but this is my first venture into Irish genealogy.

I've discovered from the UK National Probate Calendar that an ancestor died in Dublin in 1905. I've looked him up on the familysearch pilot site which gives me a registration district of Dublin South and also a set of reference numbers.

But www.certificates.ie  only appears to deal with deaths from 1922 onwards.

Can I apply for a copy of a death certificate either online or by post (I'm in England) from 1905 and if so what is the best way to do it?

Dr John Langdon Down, who gave his name to the syndrome, had a very progressive attitude. He had a home in Teddington (Normansfield).

Google "Normansfield" and you can find out more

For example at
