Jackie, This link will show you how to use the Spot healing brush in Elements 3 It's almost the same effect as the Healing brush in CS2

Hi Jackie,
What editing software are you using?
I'm using Photoshop CS2 and there is a great tool that fixes those pesky cracks. It's called the Healing brush tool. It smooths the surrounding pixels over the trouble spots.

After adjusting the brightness, contrast and levels etc, I couldn't believe how dirty and scratched this photo is. It's going to take a lot of work and patience to get this back to a pristine condition.

I haven't done a color for a while so I thought I'd get a bit of practice in before my next big project.

I tried to sharpen it up a bit more. Although much sharper, it is a bit noisy.

« on: Sunday 06 August 06 04:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi Joy,
I will just echo what Denn has said. The tools in the tool pallet such as brush and eraser can have their opacity changed to increase or decrease the strength of their actions. For instance, if you set the eraser to 50% it will only have half the erasing effect of a setting of 100%. The same thing applies to all the tools that can have their opacity adjusted.
The Layer opacity affects everything on that layer. If you have a layer at 100% than it will block all the layers below it. If you start to decrease the layers opacity, the layers below will start to show through.

As for the history palettes I’m not sure what you mean, but you can always get to your history pallet by going to the window menu and selecting History. If you are using Photoshop CS or CS2 you will have a palettes well. You can get an explanation of the palettes well by going to the Help menu and searching in Photoshop help “To use Palettes”

I hope this helps.

Hi Renee
This photo is in pretty good condition. I'm sure if you want a colored version, there will be someone keen to have a crack  at it.

I have tried to get the perspective distortion fixed, but the resolution is a bit low to bring out any detail.
