I will have to check my program tomorrow, but my GG Grandfather Thomas Jinks, who worked on Robert Peels estate at Drayton Bassett just over the boarder in Staffs, remarried a Clempson after the death of his first wife. Her father was born in Bentley. I will dig out the bit that I know and post it tomorrow.

I have checked the buriel records unfortunately they do not start until 1854. This leads me to believe you need to check Mancetter and Stockingford.

Have found three Morris buriels for you, just in case they fit in your tree.

Sarah Morris, buried 22/10/1857

Abert (I presume Albert?), buried 3/5/1858

Thomas James, (child), died 4/5/1871, buried 7/5/1871.

Hopes this helps. If it does not at least we have negated this source.

Thanks for your help, I suppose the only way forward is to check the actual remaining parish records, if they exist. I also await the 1911 census being placed on-line.

Best wishes

Thanks for getting back I will list what I know.

My grandfather was Robert Henry Rowntree bn 3rd May1890/91. He was illegitimate. His mother was Annie Rountree bn 1/9/1867 in Loughall. My mum was told his fathers name was Browne, but cannot be sure. Robert served with the Royal Irish Fusilliers in WW1 at The Somme then later in the 8th Tank Battalion. He married Isabella Florence Douglas at Annaghmore Church on 7th May 1918.

Isabella's parents were John Douglas and Mary Calvert.

Annie Rountree was the eldest of a number of children by James Rountree and Mary Ann Orr. They were married 4th Oct 1866 in Loughall.

Children known at present although some doubts over Thomas / Samuel.

Annie
James bn 10 Nov 1870, Loughall. Either he or one of his daughter married a Hannigan?
William Henry, bn 8 Jan 1878
Elizabeth, Bn Abt 1880, married a King and had Mary, Dorrie and Alfie?
George, Bn Abt 1882
Mary (Minnie) bn Abt 1885
Samuel? bn abt 1888
Thomas? U/K

I know that Annie, William, George and Minnie came to England but otherwise have no knowledge what happened to the rest of the family.

Finally I know that James Rountree's father was William, bn Abt 1820, Whilst Mary Ann Orr's father was Robert his occupation was listed as soldier. Mary Ann was the Midwife for Loughall and also cleaned in the school.

Any help no matter how small would be appreciated.

Thank you

I've had a quick look for you. I am not sure if buriels are listed for the time you want. I will have to look further.

However quickley checking Baptisms for Hartshill Congregational Chapel  gives:-

Thomas Morris son of Joshua and Mary Ann Morris of Stockingford, bn 23/2/1849, Bapt 1/4/1849.

Thomas James Morris son of Thomas and Eliza, bn 28/3/1851, Bapt 21/12/1851.

Joseph Morris son of David and Eliza, bn 7/4/1853, Bapt 26/3/1854

Sarah Jane Morris, daughter of James and Ann, bn 22/2/1853, Bapt 17/7/1853.

Mary Ann Morrisd, (no parents listed but gives there occupation as Ribbon Weaver from Stockingford).

Hope this helps

If there is anyone out there connected to the Rowntree / Rountree family, who were in Co Armagh in the 19th C onwards please reply. My grandfather was born Loughall in 1890 and know his parents and grandparents were from that area.

To clarify one thing, the Baddesley Baptisms are those from the Methodist Chapel and are available no where else.

I have a number of items that may be of interest.

1) BT records for Grendon. These cover the few years missing around 1670 -1680 from Parish records.

2) Baptisms, Baddesley Ensor 1865 to 2000

3) Hartshill Congregational Chapel, 19th C.

4) Atherstone Manorial records.

5) Large number of Atherstone buriels, cemetry records.

6) Heath Tax records forv Baddesley Ensor. Plus list of names for Grendon.

I am happy to help but please give me time.
