Hi David,Eliza Gunning and Robert McGimpsey married in 1848,Eliza was 38 so she could have been his last wife as she lived until 1904. I don't know if there were any children between them or who Robert was married to before.I will try and find out.Eliza was my great x2 grandad,William's sister.
Do you know if they stayed in Ireland or came to Glasgow as at least 2 of Eliza's brothers did?
I'll get back to you with whatever I find.
          Take care Susan

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Sutton Road Cemetery, Maidstone - COMPLETED
« on: Wednesday 30 July 14 17:13 BST (UK)  »
I have been told that a great uncle of mine is buried in the Sutton Road Cemetery,he was Henry Joseph Masters and he died in 1851 aged 5 months. The priest that officiated at the burial was a James Cook.Henry had lived in Bank Street,Maidstone. It would be great to have a photo of the grave if anyone lives nearby.
I was told that the cemetery was closed sometime between 1851 and 1886 but how can that be when I've seen people talking about burials in the 20th century?
I am also looking for my great x2 grandad, the father of Henry, with the same name.Henry Sr was born in Chatham 1820,he died in 1886 in Hackney where he was working. It makes sense that he would be buried with his firstborn son.If Henry Jr was in a grave by himself, even if part of the cemetery was closed to new graves, surely Henry Sr could be buried with his son?
There was another son who I can't trace as an adult,Thomas Robert,so maybe he died as a child. He was born in 1861.
  Any help much appreciated.

Hi,I haven't had time to look into my Thomas Bunches but a thought struck me when I reread your post. You say that William's brother,Thomas, didn't have any children so that means he couldn't be in my direct family tree, however,is it possible that William and his wife had a son they called Thomas?.I seem to remember that there was a William in my tree. I must admit that my tree went a bit haywire when I found that Benjamin Sr was born in Hampshire as I had him being born in London. The other thing I realized was that the 2 Thomas I have were born later in the 1700s.!would have been about 1780 and the other abt 1750,these are just guesses.I'll look further and get back to you

I saw your post re:William Bunch and it appears he had a brother Thomas and they were from Hampshire. My mum's maiden name was Bunch, her father was Herbert Bunch, born 1886 in Southampton. His father was Benjamin born 1847 in London, his father was Benjamin born About 1807 in Hampshire, both his father and grandfather were Thomas so it's quite possible that it's the same family as your William.I will try and see if there's a conection.

One Name Studies: A to G / Re: Belshaws
« on: Sunday 13 July 14 20:45 BST (UK)  »
I've just had another look at your Belshaws, last time I didn't really take in the dates. You have a Thomas who died in 1849 and his father was Robert. It's difficult to know when Thomas was born as we don't know his age when he died.I would think that Robert would have been born late 1700s.As I said before my great gran was Jane Belshaw born 1844,hwer father was John but I don't know anything about his siblings, his father was James and again I don't know his siblings.I will try and find more info to see if those names come up.I know there was another Jane Belshaw in Co Antrim, her father was Richard,so maybe look there too.I'll get back with what I find.

I am very interested to know who the person is wanting info on William Gunning from Conlig who married Mary Snodden. The reason is because William is my great x3 grandad.I would love to "meet" another relative.I,too have tried to find a marriage for William and Mary without success, the same with a record of his birth or baptism, however I do have loads of info on  William's siblings and his own family which I'm happy to share if you just let me know where you fit in.

Hi, How are you? Well I hope.I'm afraid I haven't got any further with James and Dorrie. As I said before, there are so many James' in my family that it's hard to know where or if he fits in.
Lately I have been researching some of my mum's family but I will make a point of trying to see if there is a connection. I'll let you know what I find.

Down / conlig
« on: Saturday 10 May 14 22:42 BST (UK)  »
My great x2 grandad lived in Conlig where, according to the Griffiths valuations,he had a house,if not bigger, more expensive than anyone else. The house was rented.William Gunning was born in 1823,his father was James Gunning born abt 1780,his wife was Mary Snodden,he was a shoe maker.By 1877 William had died so the house was let to other people. He had 5 sons and 1 daughter. Is there anyone who knows the history of Conlig,I would like to know if the house still exists today, also any information to do with Conlig.
