Thank you Goldie61,

can you be a little quicker with your response next time!

I'd read it as 'a spoort' woman which I now see was totally incorrect.

Regards,

Janet

Good morning horselydown86,

thank you for your quick response and transcription.
I'd not considered an occupation being mentioned.  From the start of the register - 1600 - this is the first time an occupation as been noted.
I thought 'Arts' might have read 'Auty' which is a local family in the area.  I can see that I was wrong with that assumption.

Regards,

Janet

thank you for the quick response.
Married six times in the 1600's, must be a record?

Good evening,

I'm having difficulty deciphering the extra line of Latin text shown after the names in a Yorkshire register.  Please see attached image.

I hope you can help.

Thank you to all who replied.

I'll go with the majority view:

"systolic bruits at apex"  - heart murmurs.

information is from a medical examination of a prospective soldier who was 18 years old at the time of this examination in May 1917.

At a later examination after entry "Became non-effective by" it clearly says:

Death - caused by Brain Tumour.
29 September 1917

Does this help?
