Armed Forces / Re: KH Kings Hussars ?
« on: Sunday 30 May 10 00:09 BST (UK)  »
thank you it could have been reversed by a family member  who scanned it and sent it to me.

amongst my gradfather medals there was one for long service  good conduct  with King George V head on one side. the medals were found in a metal box dated Christmas 1914 which I believe as a Christmas gift sent to the troops from Queen Mary

Cassie could be right thanks, brina I will start looking in to that

Both grandparent  moved to Chester to live with us and both died there they moved from D1 Prison Quarters Peterhead.    the address was on my mothers Marriage cert, as my Granfather Thomas Kelly worked for the admiralty at one time and was involved in building the breakwater at Peterhead with his son  who was also Thomas Kelly  a diver.

When I can find it after moving house I have a  fully History of the Breakwater being built in Peterhead from the  plans scale models and pictures  of all the people who worked on it. Given to me by  a diver working down in S Wales and staying with me. I couldn't believe  he had pictures of both my granfather and uncle on his PC . a lot of the pictures and there are many have names of Peterhead Men fathers and sons  working together.

I know my grandfather Thomas Kelly was from Bellshill, Scotland and his father was

James Kelly a coal miner his mother was Elizabeth and I have an address for them Addies Sq, Bellshill.

Their marriage I Leeds on The 13Th September 1913 is a bit confusing , But grandfather was a soldier so he may have been station in Leeds ?  and possible  why they married there

or

Grandmother Williaminia was a nanny to a family in Park Lane, London we have recently found love letter  after an uncle died from thomas Kelly to Her as Willamina Barclay At the park Lane Address.

So it's possible she could have been in service in Leeds and married from there.

Monica

Also my mother had a sister called Jessie so it appears to be a name that  may be running through the family

It looks like I have a lot more work to do but thank you all for your help

There is not one single entry for births or deaths showing in Scotland (1855-2006) on Scotlands People for the surname Cussie/Cussey.... :-\

Monica

I got this name from my mother birth certificate and its give an address of this person with the name Cussie as 15 St peters Road Peterhead which was just round the corner from where my  granparents lived at 25 Kirk Street and she was present at the birth and registered my mother it also says she was grandmother . but my great grand mothers names would have been kelly or Barclay .

She may have been visiting at the time of the birth ?
unless my grandfathers mother married again ?

She did  have a lot of local peoples back up for doing it but her reply was " I just hope some women in Germany is doing the same for our men "

The medal was a gift of thanks and the officer who gave it to her said it was nothing to do with the Nazi's and he was not one of them
