United States of America / Capt. James P. McDonald
« on: Tuesday 28 May 24 02:02 BST (UK)  »
Who was Capt. James P. McDonald?  I can find no trace of him.  According to a miniature tree at FamilySearch, consisting of just one single twig, his wife was named Nellie Dwyer.  I don't know who she was, either.  Capt. McDonald's daughter, Zoe Ellen Boult, was adopted by Chester Prouty and his wife Jane (Jennie) Logan of Medina County, Ohio.  In her musical career, she generally used the name Zoe Prouty Boult.

One of my ancestors bought a 1907 Maxwell Run-about and then replaced it with a 1909 Overland Roadster with double bucket seats.  If I could have either one, I'd think about owning a car again.

A couple of mentions in the press.    Search for "(*) Mondorf"

"Do you get any kind of "altitude sickness", but in reverse?"

No, when I go down to the coast, I don't feel much difference.  I'm used to Quito, of course, but I do feel the altitude at La Paz (the airport is at 13,000 feet).  They have medical personnel stationed in the terminal there, with oxygen bottles for tourists who are overcome by altitude sickness.  Ditto on some of the train routes over the Andes in Peru.

And I live in one of the low spots in Pichincha, at ~9,350 feet.

I'm guessing that the Highlands of Norfolk are something like the Lowlands of Pichincha.
