Canada Lookup Request / Re: Philip MARK b: March 1843 Lanivet, Cornwall

Jacquie,

Have just found the following marriage:

005377-94 (Huron) Joseph P. MARK, 27, laborer, McGillivray, Park Hill, s/o John & Rachel MARK, to Rhoda GAMBLE, 22, Stephen, Grand Bend, d/o William & Rebecca GAMBLE, wit: Alf McINNIS of McGILLIVRAY & Priscilla GAMBLE of Grand Bend, 7 March 1894, Grand Bend.

So, is John a third husband or 2nd, but deceased?

Jacquie, I only have access to FindMyPast (full Subscription).

I have had similar thoughts re Rachel ie. she reverted to the Mark surname.  I'll try to investigate the fate of Thomas Woolcock.  The 12 year old Loveday in the 1861 census will be the one baptised Loveday WOOLCOCK in Lanivet 07 May 1848 and subsequently brought up by the grandparents as their own so that Rachel could appear single (? theory).

So that leads to another question - who fathered the children you found with Rachel in the 1871?

Again, thanks for all the assistance and for any further help you can give me.

Hi Jacqui & PolarBear,

Brilliant! Thanks so much for your time and info.

I was hoping that Henry Mark & Loveday' family could be found.  The latest I have found anything about the family in Cornwall is 1848 when a daughter, Rachel, who had married Thomas WOOLCOCK June 3rd 1847 in Lanivet, Cornwall, had a daughter, Loveday WOOLCOCK, baptised in Lanivet on 7th May 1848.  Any sign of the WOOLCOCK's in the 1861 Canadian census?

Also, the eldest daughter of Henry & Loveday, Mary, married Mark NICHOLLS 3rd December 1846 in Lanivet - are they also in Canada?  If so, any offspring?

Very many thanks again,

AllanR (In cloudy Cheshire, England)

Many thanks to you all for the all the info - might I ask if the 1954 Electoral Roll info might be sent to me direct, as I appreciate living persons may be involved?

Thanks again,

Australia Lookups completed / Maurice Froomes CHRISTIE *COMPLETED*
« on: Wednesday 04 August 10 17:57 BST (UK)  »
There is some doubt about Maurice Froomes CHRISTIE's birth & death dates (circa 1901 and 1979 in NSW).  However, he represented Australia in the 1924 Olympics and won a silver medal in the 4x200 metres swimming event.

Is there an obituary for him? - he married Amy Eileen TURTLE in 1927.

If not obituary, perhaps he appears on the Electoral Rolls?

Anyway, thanks in advance for any clues that you can give.

Hi Sandra,

Yes, I thought I had thanked Shelley in my private mail to her - she kindly provided the obit which confirmed the Quirin marriage.  Subsequent searching on my part has revealed a living child of that marriage :)

I am constantly thrilled with the info that Rootschat listers provide - plse keep up the good work!

A*big* thankyou to you all.

Hi Dettori & ShelleyB,

Many thanks for such a quick responses to my request.  What is the most recent date that marriages in the NY area can be researched?  I was thinking of the daughters mentioned in the census returns.
