US Lookup Requests / Re: John Grisdale in Pennsylvania/North Carolina

The 1910 census has Katherine Taylor with Laura Kaisen in Norristown - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MG4Y-PZV

There is an Annie B. Taylor, sister of Laura Keisin, in the 1900 census - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M3QL-B2S

Perhaps that's your Annie?

Yes that seems to be her. Thx a lot. So she married John Grisdale between 1900 and 1920 probably in Norristown. Any sign? But why no sign of John Grisdale? Often the name was mis-spelt but in two censuses?

I am trying to find any mention of John Grisdale in Pennsylvania/ North Carolina or elsewhere between 1880 and 1920. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1869 to English-born weaver James Grisdale and his wife Annie Cannon. He is found with them in Philadelphia Ward 26 District 86 in 1870 and then with them in 1880 in Gaston N. C. Then I can't find him until 1920 in Norristown PENN, where he is with his wife Annie (nee Taylor) and his mother in law Catherine Taylor. By this time he was a Farmer.

Can anyone find him/them in the censuses of 1900 and 1910? Or a marriage/death?

If you're interested this is the story of the family:  http://grisdalefamily.wordpress.com/2012/11/16/the-boys-done-good-three-bolton-weavers-go-america/

Grateful for any help

I just came across your old posts. I think the photo Joe posted was mine. I think he may have died in the meantime. His family tree - which was quite nice, has been down for some time. He was in the photo in the back. My dad is a small child in it. Most of my older Grisdale family members are gone and I wish I had known to print out that tree. I only corresponded with him via email and don't think I ever met him. I will scan the photo again and post it online somewhere and let you know where it is via this message board. Maybe we can reconstruct the tree and find out if we are related? Joe was the illegitimate child of my grandfather Ernest Grisdale's brother. I think his name might have been Alfred Grisdale but can't remember.

This Ernest is probably Earle's brother

Yes indeed. As I said I have all the Grisdales in Michigan (and Canada) in my system and can see there is no Alfred. but he did exist and just maybe he fits into the gap of their children. Also Alfred is a name in this family and it would help to know what the G stands for? Sometimes people changed the order of their names i.e. G Albert? Still a mystery!

Well this certainly seems to be him! Thanks. He might be the son of George Alwyn Grisdale born in Canada and Lucy Dexter born in US, who married in Michigan in 1914. But I still can't find anything for Alfred's birth or in the 1920 or 1940 censuses

Alfred G Grisdale died in Normandy in July 1944, shortly after D Day. He was a Corporal with the 32 Reg of the 3rd Armored Division. He joined the army in 1941 in Detroit and was supposedly born in 1916 and a (later) resident of Macomb County. Even though I am the 'family historian' of the Grisdale family I can't find any mention of his birth or any other reference to him. Can anyone help?

Hello

There is an IRS entry for 1862 in Illinois under the name 'Grisdale' (Grisdale and Evans - Cattle Broker), can anyone read the name of the town?
