Hi again, just been informed closure of Mitchell library 'till at least end of April. I'll keep you on my todo list and get there when everything back to normal.

Hi apodo, I'm back in Glasgow for a couple of days. Can't promise but should be able to get to the Mitchell on Wednesday, it's looking promising so will see what I can find out.

Hi all,
when I first put the map up I also included a note with directions on how to locate a lair if you had the number, but it seems to have become separated from the map. So here it is again ....

As garngad rightly says, if you can locate a nearby War Grave, and it's number, then the direction the row is numbered it's quite easy to get close to the lair you're looking for. Another method I use, if you find a stone which is numbered, as in photo above, I work on the theory it's 'one pace' between lairs. So start at say 721, count 43 paces and you should be 'very' close to 764.

If all else fails, as already stated, the groundsmen are normally around during the week and are extremely helpful.

good luck

Glad to see you made it, always disappointing when no headstone though.

Hope you find something on your visit. By the way your 'map' doesn't look familiar at all?

Hi Sharon
If it's St Peter's then here is a map I put together some time ago. Section 16 is easy to find as all sections are well signed. Follow the main path/road from main gate round to the right of the office then just keep going, sec 16 on right about half way down. I would expect lair to be somewhere in the middle of the sect. If they are around staff are very helpful in locating lair with you. Hope this helps.

many thanks to all who have helped so far, lot's of info to go on. Our man seems to have left quite a trail behind him one way or another. Still couple of questions:

Has a death date been found, poss 1953 looking at jamjar's notes.
Did he ever marry Marion Hilda Mitchell, again jamjar find.

Shall be continuing research here in Glasgow next week to uncover more about this guy.
