Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Leeming families
« on: Thursday 18 March 10 07:44 GMT (UK)  »
I would be very grateful if someone could check the following LEEMING families for me in the 1841 census:

Mary Leeming aged 50+ together with Hannah Leeming aged 11. They were almost certainly in Horsforth. Both born Yorkshire.

Thomas Thompson Leeming with wife Mary, both aged about 30. Thomas was born Rawdon and Mary was born in Cookridge. He was a stonemason. Possible children are Elizabeth aged 3 and maybe a baby, Robert.

Thank you so much for that. I suppose the Smiths must have been running a guest house. Hilda was my cousin and I have been looking for her for ages. I think she died in 1902.

Am hoping someone can find me Robert and Hilda Hughes in the Blackpool area in 1901. Hilda was born Barnesbury near London  in 1879. I think Robert was born in Australia and they may have a baby daughter Elsie with the.  Don't know whether there is anyone else in the household.

US Lookup Requests / Re: Raistricks in the US

Many thanks for all the help.

I've got a feeling there was something odd here - perhaps Horatio and Mary Jane ran off to the US together and lied to the authorities on entry to the country. Then they married after Annie died. But I could be wrong. Think I need to find out whether Annie was Harrison's mother.

Yes. That's what seems so strange. Maud was 2 moths old in 1891 with Horatio and Annie.

I was wondering whether Horatio had married bigamously but he wouldn't have taken the children - and there does seem to be a possible death registration for Annie in England in 1897.

Also Mary Jane claims to have had 6 children of whom 4 are living.

Something doesn't quite add up ................

Thank you so much. Had not realised that so much information was available online now.

But is's a bit of a puzzle. His wife in 1900 is clearly shown to be Mary Jane - married 15 years. But in 1891 in Bradford, his wife was Ann or Annie. (She was my cousin, Ann Shires)

Wonder what was going on??

Is there any sign of these people in any US census after 1891 please

Horatio Nelson Raistrick born about 1861
Harrison Raistrick born 1894

Other possible family members are Ann born 1862, Eliza born 1889 and Maude born 1991

They may have lived in Pennsylvania
