Angus (Forfarshire) / Rennie family of Kinnell
« on: Wednesday 14 December 16 18:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

my Scottish geography is pretty poor so i'm looking to see what people think of a possibility in connections.

I have Andrew Renney (Rennie) baptised to Andrew Rennie and Jean Cowper 4/3/1698 at Kinnell. The youngest sibling i have found is Isobel baptised 23/5/1695 also Kinnell.

I have looked at others research to ascertain the ancestors of Andrew senior. The concensus seems to be that he was born about 1675 and his parents were James Rennie and Agnes Graham(e) but James married Agnes and was also baptised in Kilsyth (near Cumbernauld?)

Any thoughts as i cannot find a baptism for Andrew Senior

Thanks

David

Many thanks again.

I was lead to believe by an online tree that William Douglass (the father of the baptised parents) may have been baptised in Longhorsley, i will at some point have to get up to Northumberland to do some research, not sure at what point this family, if at all, were from Scotland or even how to make the jump if no local records can be found. I appreciate your help

World War Two / Re: Identification of Navy? Uniform

I'm hoping that it is him but it's a long shot.

Cecil Henry (Harry) Mackrell (Mackrill) - born 17/2/1908, Whitchurch, Hants

He appears on RA attestation papers showing service in 1945 and 1946 and pensionned in 1953. Obviously he would have been older then. I have him in 1931 living in Whitchurch (Electoral register) and then marrying in London in 1942. I have details of his parents.

I have looked at ships pursers/stewards and the shirt/tie arrangement looks similar too. The lack of other badges make me think non military too.

Both interesting, i think Merchant nay badges still had a crown in them? The shipping line one is interesting. I wish i knew who it was for sure so i could research him to reveal the detail. It was in my nan's photos and has hand written andover, hants on the back. I was hoping it was my paternal grandfather who never married my nan.

I am looking to identify the uniform in the photo, hoping that the person is my grandfather

Thank you so much Christine, i hadn't found the baptism as they don't seem to be online. Do you know what the Westerhugh refers to? Have googled it but nothing. I am trying to prove/disprove that this family came from Scotland
