Hello Martin!
So glad you contacted me. I was in Raheendarragh and Rathanna in 2015. I was at the cemetery as well. We can go back and forth with email. It may be a little less cumbersome.
A quick summary:
I am descended from the McDonalds (also in some records as "McDonnell, McDonel, etc. ) of Raheendarragh, which is near to Tomduff. The furthest back I got was John McDonald and Judith Coady. I believe you are correct in saying these are not the Tomduff McDonalds, however, I firmly believe they are cousins. I say this because there are so many shared names between the 2 families.
I have the son of John and Judy, from Raheendarragh as Thomas, my 3rd great-grandfather. He was born 1790, died 1886, and concurrent with his life was a Thomas McDonald in Tomduff, who married Mary Neil. I think these 2 Thomas' were cousins.
Thomas of Raheendarragh had a son, Patrick, who emigrated to America via Liverpool in 1869. He is my 2nd great-grandfather. The McDonalds from Raheendarragh still own the original house! I located themduring my trip and they brought me to stay there. It was incredible. Anyway, I have been researching this line for years, and would love to hear your thoughts. I also have some parish records I could send you. (*)
All my best
Stephen

I think this looks good. I have a Catherine born 1846, sister of my Anne. Mt Leinster could easily have been known as Mt Neil, as the Neil surname was very prevalent in this area. I will pm you soon. Bryan, Brien, O'Brien, etc. All interchagable.
Thanks!

Hi Friends,
In the spirit of authenticity, I thought I'd like to keep a clean black and white version as well. Perhaps someone could give it a go?
Yours in keeping the past alive ;)

Pat & Handy,
These are superbly done! It's amazing, the detail you both pulled from this photo.
So grateful!

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Reginald J. Baker Bronze Star c.1944
« on: Saturday 20 October 18 03:37 BST (UK)  »
I just received this photo of my grandfather being awarded the Bronze Star by U.S. Secretary of the Navy, James Forrestal. Not sure where this took place, but I see an awful lot of sailors! Possibly onboard a ship.
I would be very grateful for a restore/ bit of color. I promise this will be the last for a while  ;D
Thank you all!
Stephen

Thanks for your lovely replies to all restorers, Stephen. It's responses like yours that keep us coming back for more! ;D
Here is my try again with the corrected date, and one without a date.
Hope your dad enjoys the restores.
Cheers,
Peter

Thanks Peter!
It is a  real joy to see the spectrum of creative expression from such talented people like you all. I thank each and every one of you for willingness to breathe life into a stranger's old photos. It's obvious why so many people get more out of this site than any other genealogical site out there.
All the best,
Stephen
