Hi Nice People,
    Back again with another question.
Could anyone give me an idea where I might prove that my grandfather is buried in aberffwd     cemetery . In other words , does anyone know who has the records for aberffwd cemetery burials please.
Also , I think my great grandfather worked in a Mill close by - any ideas!
They were supposed to live one of the "new houses" that must have been built around
1880 ish - are they still there and where are they!
     Thank you for any help
      Take care - Keith
p.s. I forgot to say that the chapel with the cemetery was a Calvinistic Methodist one but I can't find out who holds the records.

Cardiganshire / Farm evictions 1850 to 1870 ish
« on: Sunday 21 October 18 15:34 BST (UK)  »
Greetings Nice People,
It's a Family story that one of my Davies forebears was evicted from a farm he rented
     somewhere in Cardiganshire.
The way it happened I was told was that his landowner that he rented the farm from
wanted to be a  Tory M.P. and G/G/ grandfather or G.Grandfather voted Liberal and
as it wasn't a secret ballot the landowner found out and evicted him.
But, I have heard another possibility - That the landowner was a very religious spinster
who was annoyed that some of her "flock" didn't go to her church and gave them the
ultimatum that they must go to her church regularly within the next month or they will
have their farms taken away and given farmers that would.
I understand that 14 farmers and their families were evicted and my lot were amongst
them.  Firstly, is either or both stories true and if so, how do I check if my Family were
involved. If it helps, he was supposed to be the Gamekeeper as well.
Also, does anyone know where they keep the list of people buried in Aberffrwd Cemetery
or any of the other small cemeteries in the area. I'm hunting for David Davies
born30/Nov/1878 died in Aberyswyth16/Aug/1944 supposed to be buried in Aberffrwd,
which has been closed for years, or the surrounding area.
I have been trying to find him for 3 years with very little luck
If you need more info about him I have posted some other things on my site.
Thank you - Kind Regards - Keith

Monmouthshire / Re: Uchlawrcoed and the Elias Family
« on: Saturday 20 October 18 16:46 BST (UK)  »
Hello Nice people - Thank you to the ones who have helped me already - I realise I have a lot to learn.
Things that may help: I think - Daniel Elias 16Oct1820 to 10May1886 married Mary Ann Evans
27May1835 to 1888 in late 1864. Ann or Annie:- 1866- ?, either married Caleb Evans in 1883,       went to N.Y. 11/May-1/Jun1889 and then married Arthur English as Jane but probably was in the accident Mabel found and survived. Gwenlillian:- 1868 I think she died in early 1893, no idea how. Phoebe 12jan1869 married Joseph Williams late 1887. He may have been a soldier and I think the whole family went to Oz on a troop ship. Elias:- 1870-1899 he was a miner(Where?) Elizabeth 1872 and Esther (1880) I have no idea. Hannah:-1875 married William Thomas Hamer in 1891 and had 2 sons Josiah 1895 nothing at all and Horace 1899 who died at the Somme aged 19.Leaving my Grandmother Mary:-1877 - she is suppoesd to have met my Grandfather while she was in service in Cardiff. He came from Cardiganshire and I have no idea how he get there or really anything before they in London married , running a Dairy in Clerkenwell. It's all a bit vague so if anyone can confirm any of this or pad it out or has ideas how I would appreciate the help.
     Have fun people!
     kind regards - Keith

Monmouthshire / Uchlawcoed and the Elias Family
« on: Sunday 14 October 18 13:45 BST (UK)  »
Greetings Nice People,
My Grandmother was born and brought up on two farms in a place called "Uchlawcoed".
It is supposed to be in the Rhymney area but I can't find it. My grandmothers' name was
Mary Elias and her fathers name was Daniel Elias. She was one of eight children according
to the 1881 census , but the family were also mentioned in the 1871 census in the same area.
Obviously I am tracing my family tree but after 3 years I have only found about
one twigs worth so any ideas on where I can find records on this area would be great.
I have just joined "The Geneologist" and finding things a bit different.

Thanks and kind regards - Keith
Just to confirm , They were all one family I believe - ty

Cardiganshire / Re: My Grandfather David Davies
« on: Monday 11 June 18 11:50 BST (UK)  »
Greetings all!
I have more information about the scarlet pimpernel who was my Grandfather
David (or Daniel) Davies. according to the 1939 census he lived with his new wife
in Graham Road, Hackney, London. His birthdate was 30th November 1878 and he
was born in the Cardiganshire area.
Does anyone know how , using his date of birth I can find his birth records and therefore,
      get his birth certificate.
                   Thank you - Keith

Thank you for your help so far.
33 Central Street, Holborn is a good address.  My Nans' single name was Elias.
In the 1939 census I found Grandad's birthday (30/Nov/1878 ) Also, this is the
first I've heard about Alice A. his 2nd wife that we didn't know about. She was
the one who registered his death in Aberystwyth. He wanted to be buried in that
area and my cousin is convinced he's buried in Aberffrwd cemetery but I couldn't
find him when I looked - but I didn't look at the far end as there was a guy cutting
grass nearby who hadn't seen me and I didn't want to give him a heart attack!
Elizabeth Davies was his sister but Great-granddad was also married twice and I
think Elizabeth was from his first wife and Grandad from his second.
How do you get hold of Electorial records cos I've been told that Great-granddad
was thrown off of his farm because he didn't vote for Landowner he rented the
Farm from. I hope this answers a few of the questions.
Thanks again for helping me - Kind Regards Keith

Cardiganshire / Grandad Davies
« on: Wednesday 28 February 18 20:45 GMT (UK)  »
Greetings Nice People,
I need to ask what might be a stupid question.
I know my Grandad was born 30th November 1878 somewhere in Cardiganshire.
     His name was David Davies.
Anybody got any ideas as to how I can narrow down where to look so it doesn't
cost me fortune in birth certificates.
      Thank you - Keith

hi Nice People,
I think he went back to Aberystwyth because he was born and raised in that area.
My cousin believes he knew he was ill and wanted to see  where he grew up in
happier times. He wanted to be buried in Aberffrwd cemetery but I can't find any
proof. Oh, and yes he did marry Mary Elias.
