So would the child not be registered under the birth mother too?

We know who the mother was but not what happened to my uncle.

Quick question, if a child was put up for adoption, late 1940's, very early 1950's would the birth be registered in the birth mothers name or in the adoptive parents name?

And is there any way of tracing them please?

Any help would be much appreciated

certificate has arrived, its most definitely her, wrong name but right first name of husband,  husbands occupation right, registered by a sister Sarah, right address.

I would like to thank everyone for their help. Pretty impressed by speed of GRO too.

Wow many thanks,  I ordered certificate to see whats on it to confirm its right person.
Never come across the deceased online...will take a look.
Thats my afternoon sorted.

I've just confirmed Roberts death! Found a will. Died 13 August 1870.

No i haven't, his death remains a mystery too.
I presume he died as Hannah was listed as a widow, I know this doesn't always follow though.

Hannah was a widow age 42
Robert age 8
George age 5
Amelia (her stepdaughter) age 17

Hannah and Amelia were silk weavers
