The Common Room / Re: Baptism vs Christening
« on: Monday 10 August 20 23:13 BST (UK)  »
I think that christening was a naming ceremony and that baptism was the water from the font so maybe at that time it was sometimes separated but now the 2 things are interchangeable for infant baptism or christening.

When searching dont do exact surname only make it fuzzy matching or wider search as might be different spellings like mcgonighy

I think this looks like maybe a workplace as the man sitting on right has his sleeves rolled up and a white apron on.  Maybe it a mixture of family and work colleagues as no older people in photo.  Could it be a bakery or brewery maybe.

Could the boy standing at the back on the far right hand side be the other brother as he looks like the boy in the front row with the board.

I thought that the dates would fit in with the older girl being born in 1900 so might be around 13 and the younger girl being born in 1904 so might be around 9 or 10

I think there is a resemblance between the girl second in from left in back row and girl in front of her and they both wearing same pinny

Canada Lookup Request / Re: My ancestor incorrectly added to an Ancestry tree

Remember though that some people just put information up until they can verify it or they do a bit and leave.  It might be annoying but I suppose that's how it works that people can add from any tree to their own even if information wrong.

It looks like 1920s to me.  It would probably have its basis in the brethren traditions so maybe see if there were any gospel halls or meetings especially as Bethel is the type of names they used.  Also there might be information in local newspapers as these meetings would probably been advertised as that's what these evangelistic groups did.

Hi.  I have had exactly the same problem and think it is a browser security issue.  I managed to access using my phones internet settings rather than through google.  Try using a different browser
