For those researching German records, worth keeping in mind is this site:
German Occupation Definitions - English Translations.

Thanks for that.
I searched all of Chetwynd parish totally unaware that Doxey Wood was in Staffordshire but still was  close to Sambrooke.

Hi,
William Sambrooke was buried in Chetwynd in 1694. The parish record says:
William Sambrooke of Doxey Wood late of Sambrooke aged 91 Bur Jul 23.

I've searched maps but I can't find Doxey Wood. In fact this is the only mention of it I can find.
is there someone with local knowledge that can help.
Thanks
Corryn

I'm just thankful he came off there otherwise he might have stayed on when I went through town.
That would have been a sight for the early shoppers  :D

Don't normally post here but thought I'd share this with you.
Phone call from my Grandfather at 8:30 he was golfing, he'd forgotten that his car was booked in for a service would I take it for him. Shoes on then. Eldest hopping around getting his trousers on. Ears like a bat this one, he wanted to come. Walking to Grans he was nearly losing his trousers, he didn't have a belt on, so told him to hold them up till we got there.  Noodles, the cat was on the wall wanting a fuss. Kyle forgot about his trousers reaching up so down they came just as gran came out. Pull your trousers up I don't want to see tomorrows washing she told him. She used to say the same thing to me  :) She got a piece of string threaded through the loops to hold them up.
Driving away noticed in the mirror Gran waving told Kyle to wave. A few people about some waved so waved back.
Got to the junction and as I stopped Noodles came sliding down the windscreen over the bonnet and onto the road. That's why people were waving,  the cat was on the roof  ;D ;D I was still laughing when we got to the garage.  :D :D
Kyle, who has no shame, decide to show my mate at the garage that he had string holding his trousers up. Phoned Gran as we walked back, Noodles was back home and OK.
Rest of the day went without further excitement. Quite boring after this morning :)

Thought I'd join in and tell you about my very day.
Up at 6:30 because I promised eldest son I would take him up the yard to see the new foal.  Left the house at 7:30. Sun was warm and not many people about. When we got there he was more interested in his horse, Sergei (he named him after the  meerkat on the TV adverts.) Went off then to see the foal. It is to be registered as Pontfaen Lockdown, no stable name yet the wife is open to suggestions.  Turned out the horses that are on full livery, mucked while son saw to his horse. Sat in the sun for a while then put poles out for him to take Sergei over them. Helmet and body armour on off he went while I kept an eye on him. Made our way home more people out some in groups, seems that they think they're immune even after two local deaths.
Lunch when we got home. Quiet afternoon and then my birthday tea. Mum looked after the boys while me and the wife went back up the yard. Sorted everything out in extra quick time then back home.  Don't feel tired now so a bit of TV.
Take care and stay safe all.

The Common Room / Re: Married after "Registrars Banns"
« on: Friday 10 April 20 21:31 BST (UK)  »
Thank you all for your help and input.
I have come to the conclusion that the vicar wrote "Registrars Banns" in error as he had five years previously but on this occasion failed to correct it.
With regards to him entering "born out of wedlock" I have noted that he has done this on a few occasions throughout the register, perhaps his way of showing disapproval.
Why they married away from their Parish Church, I can only guess the reasons were Emma was six months pregnant and because they were cousins, though legal, the families didn't approve.
Thanks again

BumbleB,

The image (1880) is from the register.
There is one other entry (1875) where he entered Registrars Banns but on that occasion crossed it out and put Superintendent Registrars Certificate.
Other later entries have Superintendent Registrars Certificate.
I've also noted he never missed a chance of putting "born out of wedlock" where he can!
