Andy thank you for your very quick response.

He enlisted in 1940 and was discharged in 1948.

He joined the West Yorkshire Regiment but was compsulory transferred to the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in 1946.

My father served in the Falklands between 1942 and 1944 and then later - in January 1946 was posted to ?Glifadha - which I think was in Greece.

I can see the abbreviations - CMF - which i think is "Central Mediterranean Force" and also BRD - which i think is Base Remount Depot.

There is also an entry which states he was entitled to Med Allce - which i think is Mediterranean Allowance.

I have to go out now but when i am back I will take a screen shot and post here.

World War Two / Army Abbreviations
« on: Thursday 06 July 23 10:03 BST (UK)  »

I have recently received my fathers Army records (WW2). There are quite a lot of abbreviations - some I have been able to work out.

However does any member know what RPMHR is an abbreviation of, as I have been unable to find any information, and that in particular is noted on at least 4 entries on his record.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is her fathers occupation on her marriage certificate.

Have you found him on any census.

Ive just checked the GRO website and unfortunately there is not the option to order the birth certificate as a PDF which is cheaper.

However I would still order from the GRO which will cost you £11, rather than ordering directly from Birmingham as there is a 12 week waiting time if ordered from Birmingham.

The birth registration you refer to for Freda Smith gives mothers maiden name of Smith, so possibly mother unmarried.

It might be worthwhile sending for a copy of that certificate which you can order from the GRO site and request a PDF copy for £7 which they will send you a link to your e mail address  in order to view it.

What information do you have on adoption certificate.

Had you considered taking a DNA test?

I will remember that for future reference and search BNA.

Thank you again.

Fay.
