Hi Marc,

Many thanks for confirming that both the photos are of All Saints Parish Church Hockley. This gives me another area to extend my searches. Your help is much appreciated.

Hi Bo,

Is it possible that the photograph of All Saints Church, Hockley in the first website below (hibbitt/photos), might be a shot of the far end of the same (All Saints) Church shown in the photograph in the Ted Rudge website??

http://www.hibbitt.org.uk/photos/photos_allsaintschurch.html

Birmingham City Council website Archives and Heritage Service show an All Saints Church, Hockley at the top of this list (link below).
Hockley (Google Maps) appears to be just West of the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter - this is the area I'm researching.

If you could confirm any of this I would be most gratefully.

Many thanks

Hi Mudlark,

All Saints Church was in Brookfields , Birmingham.
Brookfields being  very near to Hockley and Ladywood.

The Church was demolished in 1973 .

Search Ted Rudge's Website - Winson Green to Brookfields-
Click on Brookfields , then Churches.
There is a photo of the Church.

If you are looking for ladywood area of Birmingham try
Mac Joseph website- www.oldladywood.co.uk

Happy browsing

Bo

Hi Bo,

Thank you so much for all this information - it will be a great help.
I will shortly check out Ted Rudge's website and also Mac Joseph's - they both sounds like great links to the Ladywood area.

All the best

Can anyone help please.
I'm searching for the location All Saints Parish Church in Birmingham c1859.
The marriage certificate shows Matthew Clark married Eliza Lunt on 2 August 1859 in this church.
This couple lived in the Ladywood area of Birmingham - I've searched via Google but cannot find an All Saints Church in the Ladywood area at that time.
Perhaps the church was bombed in WW2 or disappeared through rebuilding.
Any help would be most gratefully received.
Thank you

Hello All,

Because of the search for the BURT's of
Wemyss,
I have suggested to you that it
would make good sense to keep an eye on the
neighbouring parishes. In my previous posting I
made mention of Robert BURT and
Agnes GOURLAY.
Their son Robert BURT
was christened on the 7th of January, 1683
at DYSART
and their daughter MARY BURT
was christened on the 21st September, 1679
at DYSART.

You will recall, I'm sure, that I mentioned that
Dysart is frequently referred to as Coaltown of Dysart.
That is only a very short distance from WEMYSS.

Kind Regards,

Tom.

Hi Tom,

Using your method of searching I've found a double
registration in IGI for the marriage of John Burt of Dysart
to Margaret Salmond of Wemyss.

2. JOHN BURT - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Marriage: 30 DEC 1742 Dysart, Fife, Scotland

3. JOHN BURT - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Marriage: 30 DEC 1742 Wemyss, Fife, Scotland

It is possible that John Burt was born in Dysart.
Here is the record for a John Burt b1715.

6. JOHN BURT - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 25 SEP 1715 Dysart, Fife, Scotland.
Parents: John Burt and Margaret Lilly

Margaret Salmond was born in Wemyss in 1718.
Parents: David Salmond and Elspeth Bains.

Is it possible that my David Burt born 1750 was
named after his maternal grandfather David Salmond?

Cheers for now
Chris
