Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Wiltshire Court Records - Charles BECKLEY/BECKLY
« on: Tuesday 03 November 09 08:46 GMT (UK)  »
(I believe 1830, but could be between 1825-1831)

I was wondering whether somebody could see if there are any court records of Charles Beckley who was sentenced to transportation to Australia.

I was also wondering whether there would be any way to find out if any of the accused family was in attendance through these records, or any mention of their father etc.  I'm looking for confirmation that this is in fact the Charles Beckley that i am looking for.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your replies

Hibee - i have tried to look for Inglis.  I have noticed how many times these two swap and change!

AMBLY - The only child i have for Henry Ingles is James.  James's childrens names were:
Newland Wickham Charles Ingles
Ormond John Bushell Ingles (the John & Bushell are from his wifes side of the family)
Berton Thomas Joy Ingles
Coral Annie Ingles

The earliest i can place James in Australia is 1849 when he married his first wife.

Angus (Forfarshire) / Henry Ingles - Help?
« on: Monday 02 November 09 09:00 GMT (UK)  »
I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions.

I have the marriage certificate for my 2nd Great Grandfather James Ingles.  He migrated to Australia but has his birthplace (1827) as Dundee Scotland.

On this certificate it states that his father name was Henry Ingles and was a Sea Captain.

I havent been able to find any information on this...  Can anybody give me any suggestions?

Very good timing!
One more question...  How did you find the inquest number?
I'm on the PROV site now and am going around in circles getting very confused...  :-\

Oh excellent!  Thanks for your help.  I'm planning to go there today and would hate to come back and kick myself for not looking at something.

Hmmm...  I have his death certificate and it states on there that he died on
10 April 1874 Yarra Bend Lunatic Asylum Shire of Heidelberg.
He died of a disease of the brain as certified by inquest held by coroner.
The duration of Illness was 6 weeks.
Details of his family etc are listed as unknown.

Thanks for having a look though.  Do you think that maybe there are records at PROV that are just not indexed?

Hi everybody!

I was just wondering whether anyone here on this board has encountered an ancestor that lived/died in the Yarra Bend Lunatic Asylum?
I have found a family member and have been on PROV and found
VPRS 7422/P1 Index to Male and Female Case Books, Yarra Bend Asylum, 1848-1912
I downloaded it and my ancestor, James Carton, was not listed.  I noticed that there were very few entries for the earlier days.  He died in 1874 (some people are listed from that time).
Do you think that i would have any chance of finding any records on him, or do you think that it should have showed up in that index?
I'm sorry if i sound a bit clueless.  I have only just started on this side of the family.  The other side is all British.  It unusual having records available to me that are only a couple of hours away!

I look forward to hearing any responses and thanks for reading!
