Wow thanks for that. Speedy find. Never knew of this site. That is fantastic. The family were still there in 1901 so she is my Unity. Thanks so much. Is there a way of getting a copy of that death cert? I wonder what info would be on there. Would it have a mother's name as well as a father's name? Or is that all the information you would have as seen on the link there?

Derry (Londonderry) / Birth of Unity Lynch

Hi, I hit a brick wall with my Irish family so gave up looking for some time. I was trying to find a birth for a Unity/Winnifred/Eunice Lynch. She was married to Joseph Carlin/Carland. Can find their marriage but not her birth. Father's name on marriage cert given as Daniel. Can find neither a birth nor death entry for her. Any help appreciated.

Renfrewshire / Re: Poor relief in Greenock ?

hi, I tried all of the sources mentioned and there is no trace of the Greenock Poorhouse records. Apparently they were destroyed. It's really sad they don't exist any more.  The only records retained by the Glasgow Health Board source mentioned here is records which relate to the asylum side of the poorhouse.
I was fortunate enough to trace something in Mitchell Library relating to a relative of mine because she went to a poorhouse in Glasgow because she had clearly had a stroke. So they had some records relating to her at the Mitchell. Might be worth a check again there. Good luck.

Can I ask if anyone researching these Jacks knows of any link to a Mary Jack who married John McMillan in Glasgow and they had a son named John Jack McMillan. Mary's father was John Jack and her mother was Janet Miller. Just wondered if there was a connection.

I've tried googling this and not finding what I am looking for. Does anyone know if the 'joint hospital' was the Bridge of Weir Hospital in Kilmacolm?
