I haven’t got the certificate yet but this one seems to fit especially with their first born being born in Kings Norton.

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Bills Family
« on: Monday 02 August 21 07:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I’m trying to locate the birth and parents of James Bills (Abt 1855) according to the censuses from 1891 onwards he was born in Tipton. He married Harriet Daniels and they had 3 children. I haven’t managed to find them pre 1881 nor have I found his parents. On one census there is a Phoebe Cook listed as his mother but I haven’t been able to find a marriage that matches. I’ve worked out their children so don’t need help there.
Many thanks!

It’s written Emily Wallis formerly Watson.

His wife seems to be Mary Hickling Plint, I ignored that one since she wasn’t an Emily. However, if Joan was the product of an affair then I can’t rule him out.

She is and no there is no family connection. I’ve been able to trace her pretty well but as I said it’s her parents I’ve had trouble researching. But the above theory does make sense 👍 :)

Ohh interesting, I hadn’t contemplated that they weren’t married, if that’s the case it could explain the unofficial adoption. She was born in 1914.

Yes I have, there were two flats but  none of the occupants matched.  It is the same with the electoral rolls.

Yes that’s her and no I don’t have the answers to those questions. I’d usually start with their marriage which I haven’t been able to identify and I haven’t found them on the 1911 census either.  There is a Robert Wallis listed in the birth registration with Watson as a mother but he was born in Lincoln.

It’s probably a wild goose chase 🤔

Hi

I’m stuck trying to work out the parents of an ancestor, I have managed to find out quite a bit about their daughter a Joan Wallis born 1914 in Camberwell but I am coming up short trying to find information on her parents John Wallis an accountants clerk and Emily Watson, finding their marriage has also been troublesome.
The story goes, Joan was unofficially adopted by one of my family members when her parents left to go overseas. When Joan was born they lived on Elfindale Rd, Camberwell, London.

Any help would be gratefully received
