Thank you to Sandra and iluleah for that information.  Yes, those are the correct people in the family.

Thank you for confirmation that its difficicult to find Arthur in the 1921 Canada census.

All the info you have both given is very helpful and will be passed on to my friend.

Best wishes,

Canada Lookup Request / Arthur William Farmer, born 1891 England
« on: Friday 19 January 18 11:39 GMT (UK)  »
Arthur William Farmer was born 1891 England.  Emigrated to Canada in 1919 with wife Hilda.
They had 2 children, Hilda born about 1920 and William Henry Farmer born 1922 Edmonton.
I would have expected to see them in the 1921 Canada Census, but cannot find them.
Any help much appreciated.
Thankyou.   Jazgran

Can anyone help, via the private message means?

Apologies - wrong name for the ship.   It was the "Scotian", arrived end of May/early June 1920.

Canada / British Home Child: John HAND born 1906

Thank you for the wonderful work being done on this.  I am looking for John Hand born 1906 who sailed to Cananda on "Scythai" in June 1920 to Toronto.   How would I find what happened to him after his arrival at the "Receiving and Clearing" house owned by Dr Barnardos Homes?

The Lighter Side / Re: Heir Hunters TV series

Interesting story on Friday, Barbara the well travelled lady with 5 husbands.  All her possessions had been loaded into boxes and put into storage.  Celtic Research plus others were able to have the boxes opened and search for a Will (not found) and items for auction.  I wondered who decides who can "open the boxes", etc.?

The Common Room / Re: Australian Convicts - "Widows"
« on: Saturday 25 February 17 14:41 GMT (UK)  »
Thats very interesting.  My "convict" gt.gt.gt.gt.grandfather died accidentally after his sentence was served and  whilst working legally in Australia.  His goods were auctioned (seen the advert in the Sydney Morning Herald) - but how can I find whether the proceeds of the auction were ever sent to his widow back in England?
