The will of Nicholas Hall of Crowhurst dated 1768 mentions his sons Benjamin, William, Nicholas, John and Miles. All 5 sons appear in the Crowhurst registers, but  there is no Michael.  Could Miles be confused with Michael?

Benjamin Hall married Mary Steer, widow,  in Croydon St John on 20 Nov 1787

Mary Hall married William Ware in Bletchingley on 7 Oct 1801

The will of Mary Ware wife of William Ware of Bletchingley, Surrey, dated 1804, may help.

She mentions her late husband Benjamin Hall of Crowhurst, Surrey, yeoman, and Michael Hall brother of her said husband, and Benjamin Hall son of the said Michael. Also Jane Holmden wife of (blank) Holmden of Edenbridge in Kent, labourer, and Benjamin Hall son of Nicholas Hall another brother of her late husband.

The following appears in the Poor Law Index for Farnham:  3 Aug 1809 Removal Order from Frensham to Farnham - Sarah Chuter, wife of Stephen, and son Stephen 5m.

Stephen and Sarah Chuter had a son Richard baptised in Elstead (adjoining Frensham) in 1814. So possibly William was bapt in Elstead - I have not yet been able to check baptisms in Elstead prior to 1813.

Hello

It looks like your William Chuter is connected to James Chuter Ede, a leading UK politician in the 1940s-1950s. He died here in Epsom, Surrey UK in 1965 as Lord Chuter-Ede. His grandparents were James Chuter born about 1823 in Farnham, Surrey and Ann Hannah Clark born about 1822 in Hobart, Tasmania. They married in Epsom in 1848 and are buried here. James Chuter was the son of Stephen Chuter of Farnham. I am trying to expand this info and will let you know what i come up with.

A transcript of Puttenham marriages shows 26 Feb 1811 Stephen Ellis of this parish, bachelor and Sarah Cox of this parish, spinster, witnesses James Pearce and Edward Holloway (the latter is a witness to most marriages around this date)

The Surrey Marriage Index shows the marriage as having taken place at Puttenham on 26 Feb 1811 but I can't see that the index shows the status of the couples.

If anyone has access to the Puttenham records I would be grateful for any additional text.

Cheers

Ashley
