« on: Thursday 28 May 15 12:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Can anyone tell me if Kincull, Kinculbrack and Kilculmagrandal the same place, I have seen Kincul and Kilculmagrandal listed as separate parishes see here http://www.ballynagarrick.net/ulsterancestors/Cumber%20Upper.htm

....but on the 1831 census return Kincull and Kilculmagrandal they are listed and the same place..

Any help would be appreciated...

Annie

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Place name help - handwriting

Hi, can anyone help to work out the place name:

The parish is Cumber, Co Londonderry in 1846, I think the bottom one may be Lettermire which is Cumber Lower but it's the one above I cannot work out. This is the groom's address so he may have come from another parish.

Any help is always appreciated,
Anne

You can apply via GRO Ireland, they charge 4 or 5 Euros for a research copy.

It's from 1874 and they said they didn't have it as it wasn't in their date range..

I think with all sites using transcriptions there is alway room for error.  The process is very boring for someone with no interest in genealogy and mistakes will be made, you just need to look at the market leader's transcription of the Scottish census, it's ridiculous......I did pay the £20 but suspect some of the records are wrong but apart from going to Dublin  for the originals or the local church it's the only option but you'll never know if your research is sound.  I don't like the fact that they never cite their sources either!!!
