Francis' military records can be viewed on Anc*****.

He enlisted with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers at Hamilton on 1st June 1915 and later served with The Royal Army Medical Corps.

When he enlisted he was living at Old Mill Road, Uddingston and had two children, Margaret b. 15/2/13 and Mary Ann b. 1/5/15, Both born in Bothwell.

The only medals mentioned are The British War Medal, Victory Medal & The War Badge.

One document dated 26/7/18 says he was "Transferred to Class P Army Reserve to resume civil employment as a miner with Messrs A G Moore & Co. Blantyre Farm Colliery, Blantyre."

In 1919-20 his address is given as 100, Towie Place, Uddingston

Francis Mullin b. 7 March 1889, Bothwell. Parents Francis Mullin & Mary Ann Boyle.
Address, Reid & Stewarts Rows, Nackerton (Nackerty).

There is also a death in Bellshill, 1975, Francis Mullin, age 85, mother's surname Boyle.

Tubercular Meningitis 21 days. Usual Residence, Hamilton Street, Saltcoats.

The Caledonian Hotel is shown on old maps. http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html  . Put in the coordinates 311744  968582 and select the 1872 map.

It was around the junction of Durness Street and Beach Road. The block of houses there now is called Caledonian Place.

There is a girls orphanage on Westlands Drive on Old Maps . It's on the 1895-96 1:2500 map and still showing as an orphanage in 1966.
Go to  http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html  and put in the coordinates 253764  667396.
Select one of the 1:2500 maps.  :)
