Westmeath / Re: Catherine Brennan, emigrated to Australia on the Kapunda 1875

Are there any other names listed from Mullingar on the ship's manifest. It might help narrow down things or point to some outlying parishes?

Hello there,

I've been looking up the Morrison/McKay family too. Charlotte (Lottie) Morrison, daughter of Archibald Morrison and Jamesina Noble Sutherland was born abt. 1876 in Wick, Caithness. As some of you have written already, the family moved to Bootle. Charlotte married Thomas Gorman in 1901, West Derby. She is listed, with Thomas in the 1911 Census as landlady of a pub in Thirlmere Road, Everton.

Assuming that Thomas Gorman died, Charlotte married an Irishman, Thomas A. R. Brophil in 1915, West Derby  who is my family tree. Charlotte and Thomas moved to Dublin, where Charlotte, a widow died in 1953.

Kildare / Re: Bridget Kelly

I also have a Bridget Kelly (née McDonagh) in my tree, born abt. 1885 in Dublin and lived in Rathangan, Co. Kildare. She was the wife of Peter Kelly who died, I think in 1950. I haven't found a matching death record for Bridget. There's a possibility that this Bridget could also have been called 'Elizabeth'.

Mayo / Re: Help with deciphering street names in Kilmore Moy/Ballina
« on: Saturday 01 April 17 16:31 BST (UK)  »
Thank you for the reply. I was wondering if there might be a Redhill/Red Hill closer to or in Ballina as I think Redhill, Co. Mayo is part of the parish of Straide/Templemore and not Kilmore Moy? I understand that in most cases the marriage took place in the bride's parish, hence the idea that the distance was too great.

Mayo / Help with deciphering street names in Kilmore Moy/Ballina
« on: Saturday 01 April 17 15:46 BST (UK)  »
I was wondering if anyone could help me with these places of residence on the marriage records for Kilmore Moy. From looking at the 1901 Census, could the first one be an abbreviation of Garden Street? The second one looks like Red Hill, but as this is the bride's place of residence, Redhill, Co. Mayo seems to far away to be it. Any help is welcome. Thank you.
