Tyrone / Re: st Marks Augher Tyrone

Baptisms from 1866 and marriages from 1869 are microfilmed at PRONI. For most up to date records you need to contact The Deanery, 10 Augher Road, C!other BT76 0AD. In earlier years this parish was part of St Macartans, Clogher.

Antrim / Re: Trying to find parents of Rev. Robert Mathews

From the marriage notice of his daughter he appears to be  a Master of Arts (A.M.) so will have a University education. Matriculation and graduation registers have been published for all UK universities operation at that time (Trinity Dublin, Oxford, Cambridge and several Scottish universities).

Trinity College Dublin is the most likely as the only University then in Ireland and a Church of Ireland foundation. The only Robert Matthews graduating from Trinity College with an MA that early was from Co Tipperary, son of John Matthews ("Musicus" by profession) and educated by Mr White. He entered TCD 6 July 1812 aged 15, graduating with a BA in 1817 and an MA in 1820.

Looks like you man.

If so, Fanny was the daughter of David Kane/Kain and Molly Morrow of Kainstown Carnalbanagh. PM me for details on this family.

Balmoral cemetery was the specifically Presbyterian burial ground from 1855 to 1953. Not sure where the records are kept but the gravestone inscriptions have been collected and published by the UHF.

Burial records for Clifton Street are online at:-

Cah town land is indeed in Errigal parish but borders on the Aghadowey parish town lands of Gorran, Lisboy and Killykergan.

I've come across several instances where a lease has come up for renewal when the leaseholder had died while his heir was still a minor. In these cases trustees renewed the lease "in trust for (minor child)". So you could be the beneficial owner of leasehold property even if you were not of full age.

New system up and running for some time now at:
https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/

Searches are free  while you have any credits on your account and search results give the exact date of an event as well as district and reference. £2 worth of credits gives you an onscreen view of the original certificate.

So far the system online only covers "historical events" i.e births over 100 years ago and marriages 75 years ago and deaths 50 years ago, but full access to all events is available in the GRONI seach room in Belfast.
