Thank you Nell.  This helped a great deal.  I have to give my eyes a rest after view those old maps  ;) . 

This is the location of the household of my Great Great Grandfather James Grant in the 1861 Census. The cottages could have been anywhere in the area but at least it is down to a very specific historical site. I have placed a marker at what is now and then North End Avenue. And a marker at Stubbington Avenue where North End House was located.

I also came across another relevant place, the birth place of his third child, daur Lydia Grant, c1861 at Kingston Cross just south of the above location.

Greetings -  I am attempting to find the location (map or description) of the All Saints Ward, Dist. Portsea Is. in 1861.  I have given it a good try via Google and sub references particularly to administration.  The closest I have come is a reference in Geniuk under Portsmouth.

If found, I am hoping to get a relative location of "1 North End Cottages."
