Suffolk Lookup Requests / Baptism - Stonham Aspal - MAYHEW
« on: Tuesday 03 June 08 16:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
would anyone have or know where I could get baptism records for Stonham Aspall. I am researching Samuel Mayhew who married in Stonham Aspel in 1746. Unfortunately there is'nt a birth year for him only his wifes which was 1714. so I am hoping he was born somewhere aroun d 1700 to 1710. I would like to purchase parish records for this area if possible and need them to be from 1600 time through to the 1700's. I have tried the suffolk site but there dos'nt seem to be info on there for Stonham Aspall, maybe someone will  know where they can be located . hope someone can help.
regards, JUNE.

Suffolk / Joshua MAYHEW of Samford
« on: Monday 02 June 08 22:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I am trying to find a baptism for Joshua Mayhew who was born around 1795 time. Samford/Holbrook. he maried in July 1823 at St.Margaret's Church Ipswich. I would like to find out who his parents were. Joshua was a Blacksmith by trade, so I am wondering if he followed his father's occupation.
I would appreciate it if anyone who has access to Holbrook/Samford parish records could possibly have a look to see if Joshua's baptism is registered  around 1790/94.
many thanks,
JUNE.

Sue,
I am most grateful to you for  this information on Thomas and Rebecca, it looks as though this could be the couple I have been searching for.
thank you once again, JUNE.

My grateful thanks to you Pennie for this current information. I shall get and order the cd today. I did order the cd with Leafield on it and managed to find Thomas's births of his children on there but no marriage of Thomas and Rebecca so hopefully by getting the other cd it will further along my research on the family.
many thanks to you, JUNE.

Hi,
I wonder if anyone knows  if there are any early marriage records for Leafield,Chipping Norton that have been transcribed. I am trying to trace the marriage of ThomasTurfery to Rebecca? would be about  1784/5 time.they had a son baptised in October 1785 at Leafield, which seems to be the first child in their familyhis name was Thomas, there were other children born to the couple after that time and going through till around 1795.
would appreciate it very much if anyone knows of early marriage records for Leafield, or if marriages for there were done in another parish close by.
many thanks, JUNE.

Thank you Meliora for sending me the marriage and death record, will have a look into that. also thank you for searching the other census it is much appreciated, this family is beginning to be a mystery. in 1861 the wife is down as Harriet at 39yrs. and Jopseph's age is 40yrs. with a boy named Joseph aged 13yrs. another George aged 9yrs. then three other children also with them. so in 1851  their Joseph would be about 3 years old. but they dont seem to be anywhere, I expect it will turn up one day when I least expect it too. thank you once again, JUNE.
