Jeremiah Birkett was born around  1813 at Skelwith Bridge - He married Agnes Clark (I think) at Liverpool in 1837.....and his occupation was 'Joiner'.

but who were his parents ?

Hi, Just wondering if you ever did find the parents?? I know this is an old post but worth a try!! I am looking for the same person. He definitely was married to Agnes Clark, 1837, Liverpool.

Thanks, Mandy Nee; Birkett.

Hi Nigel, I'm back again!! Well the Cd arrived today, much quicker than anticipated. I have spent the afternoon extracting the information that I needed and it was very interesting, I have learnt lots about my relatives! Unfortunately I have now drawn a blank on  'William Forster' born around 1774, lived in the parish of St Mary the Virgin, his wife was Elizabeth Collcutt , married at St Aldates, 05-01-1794. You kindly gave me this marriage info. I wondered if you could have a look on your Cd for his baptism? I'm hoping for the parents names! (My Cd doesn't cover this parish). Also, Louisa Cox, born about 1806, St Thomas parish. Again I'm hoping for the parents names? I don't know if it's worth the expense of buying another Cd with the different parishes on, although to go any further back with these I suppose that Parish records are the only way, or you being much more experienced on these matters do you have any suggestions of where to research. I have subscribed to the Ancestry website which is good for census records but anything dated before these records began is a bit hit and miss! Anyway, look forward to your reply and yes you've definitely earned a pint or two if ever your in my area.
Kind regards, Mandy

Smiling even more now, that ties in nicely. Sarah Forster was William's sister and William Grimmett was his other sister Catherine's husband.
Your a star Nigel thank you very much, now I will patiently wait for my Cd.
Keep smiling,
Mandy

Nigel I'm glad your smiling, life is much more pleasant with smiley people around, I'm sat here smiling too at your response. YES, I would like the answer then I can research a little more before the Cd arrives, then when it does find it's way to sleepy Devon, I shall open it with glee and hopefully find all my other relatives from the St Aldates area. (Also I'm on a deadline to present a Forster family tree to my Auntie for her 70th birthday on the 31st Jan). No pressure!!
Promising to be patient from now on ;D

Thank you again Nigel, Hoping it's on the St Aldates Cd as I haven't ordered the St Thomas One!! Should be lots of other Forster's/Fosters on there anyway as the family were quite large. Looking forward to it's arrival, fingers crossed it doesn't take the two weeks stated on the order to be delivered, the suspense is agonising. Couldn't you just give me a small CLUE, go on, I know you want too. Louisa's surname maybe???? Patience I have, time I don't, lots of relatives to find....
Kindest Regards, Mandy

Sorry, also wanted to ask you if you knew what or where the 'Johnsons Buildings', St Aldates were? They appeared to house a lot of people? Can't find them on an old map I have.
Thanks.

Nigel you are a star  ;), thank you for that info, another mystery solved. I think this is going to become my main hobby too, it's like being a detective!!  I love it. Now, I don't suppose you know anything about the marriage of this William and Louisa ?, don't know her maiden name. She was born Oxford, St Thomas around 1806. Would I be right to presume that couples got married in the women's Parish church? If so, the marriage may appear on the St Thomas Cd ? ( I haven't ordered this one as yet ???). The first child Elizabeth was born about 1829 so would I be right to think the marriage would have been the previous year? (They seemed to have children pretty quick in those days!!) I have trawled through the online archives all afternoon and come up with nothing. The search continues.....
Thank you again for your valued information.
Kindest regards, Mandy

Wonderful, thanks NDRFT, that certainly does help, that's the correct marriage. I will contact the Oxford Record Office and enquire about the license as you suggested, and I have also purchased the said CD. The Baptisms you found were the children of Elizabeth and William. There was another child, William, (so many Williams!!), but he was born in the Parish of St Mary, Oxford, so was probably Baptised there? This William, born around 1796, went on to marry a Louisa ? born around 1806 and states St Thomas, Oxford on the 1841 Census as where born. This couple went on to have seven children, one of them Samuel born 1843, being my Husbands Great Grandfather. I am hoping the children's Baptism's will appear on the CD that I have ordered as most of them were born in the Parish of St Aldate's. (1 in St Thomas, Edwin & James in St Giles who I have the Baptism record for).
Thank you for brightening up my day in gloomy rainy Devon, I shall now try to trace the marriage of William & Louisa . :) Thinking I may have to buy another CD!!
 Kind regards, Mandy

Hello, I'm looking for the marriage record of William Forster to Elizabeth Collcutt, marriage date, 06-01-1794, St Aldates parish church. Hoping any details would provide the parents names?? William's occupation was a Livery stable keeper if this helps? They had 3 children that I know of, William, Catherine & Sarah. (I Can't find any Baptism records for these either??) Hit a brick wall.
Thank you.
