Sorry PB. I had been spending so much time looking into John and Kate's children that I confused myself and thought you might have found more children! Thanks for your help.

Thank you for your reply PB.

Who are Ernest and Daisy?

Thank you for your reply Milliepede and for your suggestions.

I haven't found Kate's brother and wife but I found possible children from the marriage, which might help to pinpoint the family in 1939.

Two children with surname Turner and mmn Moody were born in Portsmouth in early 1920s, so the family may have remained in the Hampshire area. This would tie in with the death in Bournemouth of a John C Turner found by Milliepede, although not conclusive of course.

Thank you for your reply Annette.

Unfortunately, I have no other information at all. I was hoping the marriage registration would yield some information about John C Turner. I tried to locate the place of marriage on marriage-locator, but no records were available.

However, Kate's brother Ernest Thomas Moody married Daisy Blanche Brooks in Andover a few months after Kate married, so there may be the possibility that the two marriages took place in the same location. The entry for Ernest is located between entries for Yateley (RD: Hartley Wintney) and Reading St Andrew Presbyterian (RD: Reading).

Please could someone look up the marriage of John C Turner to Kate Moody in Andover Q2 1919  vol 2c, p 755 and let me have the details?

I know that Kate was born on 2 April 1892 in Warminster, Wiltshire to Thomas Henry Moody and Deborah Compton. She died on 19 May 1962 in Southampton, Hampshire.

I know nothing else at all about John. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

once you have looked at her marriage certificcate you will know who her parents were

The only marriage that definitely belongs to the correct Margaret is the 1884 marriage which states her father is John Thom.

Does the family stay in England?  If so later census may give a more exact birthplace
Also for Margaret as I see she remarried in 1884 but died before 1891?
Yes, but later censuses and marriage only say born in Scotland.

John Thom 53

George 17

Jane Taylor 27 daughter
Mary J 6

John 1
Margaret Thom 13 granddaughter born Grange Banff

George and Margaret's ages match the 1881 census, but the Margaret born in Grange Banff has father Alexander.....according to her 1884 marriage certificate, her father is John  :-\  She did however have a son named Alexander....

This is confirmation of George's wife's surname from the birth of their daughter Margaret in Salford in 1883:

THOM, MARGARET  GOODBRANDT
Mother's Maiden Surname:  HODGE
GRO Reference: 1883  M Quarter in SALFORD  Volume 08D  Page 182

Yes, Margaret's middlename ties in with George's mother's maiden name on his baptism:
Quote
father John Thom mother Margt Goodbrand
and the 1881 census also had a visitor named Elizabeth Hodge aged 56, most probably Mary's mother.

Perhaps Margaret's parents died when she was a child and her grandparents brought her up... ???
