World War Two / Re: WW2 RAF 36 & 39 Squadrons
« on: Wednesday 16 December 09 15:50 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks to all who have helped on and off this site. I have now obtained my father's record of service, which will also be very valuable. All I need now is the time!!
I have put things to one side at the present time, but hope to fit all the information I have, together with the photos, into some sort of chronological account. Hopefully in the new year.

Regards, Gill

World War Two / WW2 RAF 36 & 39 Squadrons
« on: Thursday 08 October 09 10:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
My dad was in the above squadrons in the WW2. I know he went  to South Africa, Egypt and Italy as I have some photographs. But I would love to actually track his RAF career. I do have his Raf military number.
What would be the best was to track when and where the squadron went?

Thank You, Gill

PS
I am also hoping to do the similar thing for my grandad who was in the DLI. He was in the 23rd division, I believe, in the 'Bantams'. I have started trying to track down information, but am finding it rather difficult

I wonder if someone has access to the 1841 census for the Doncaster/Sheffield/Thorne area of Yorkshire.
I am looking for Eliza Trimingham born 1831. I would love to find out any information regarding the household.

Thank You,
Gill

Hi,
Great to hear from you. It's lovely to get a reply after over 4 years.
This is my  from my husband's tree (James Buttery was his grandfather) and I haven't looked at it for some time.
I, too, have not been able to find Thomas' parents. But have Susanna's as Chrisopher Hodge(1777 Aldborough, E Yorks) and Mary Thompson. Does that correspond with your finds?
I have Chrisopher's parents as John Hodge & Dorothy Robinson.
John Hodge's father as Christopher Hodge.
I have not yet double checked this information. It would be interesting to see if it corresponds with what you know.
I would be very interested to know which of Thomas' children emigrated to Australia.

In an hour or so, I am off on holiday! And so will respond to any reply in August when we return.

Thank you again for getting in touch,
Regards
Gill

Can anyone look up a couple of families on the 1841 census for me, for the Doncaster, Sheffield area.

I am searching for Eliza TRIMINGHAM born 1831  and William HODGE also born c.1831.
I would love to discover the rest of their families.

Thank you,

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Sudden Death

I have an ancestor who died one day after marrying at the age of 32, in 1877.

The death certificate was signed by a coroner. Where would I go to discover more details.
And how would I find out if there was a will?

Thanks, Gill
