Dear Suffolk*Sue

Very many thanks for your help.  That's great.  I'll treat it with due caution, but it's looking good!

Best wishes,
Melbell.

Essex / Baptism of Sarah COSTIN
« on: Thursday 26 January 12 13:30 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find the baptism of Sarah COSTIN born c. 1796/7.  In the 1851 Census she claims to have been born in 'Heny' which I take to be either Great or Little Henny.  In 1861 she is down as being born in Bocking (where she is living).  She married Samuel MOOR(E) in Bocking on 6th June 1816 and died in Bocking aged 68 on 19th July 1864.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Antrim / ALDERDICE baptisms in Belfast
« on: Wednesday 18 January 12 16:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Would anyone be able to help me find two baptisms in Belfast please?

I'm trying to find out about Rebecca Alderdice born c. 1845 and her sister Maria Alderdice born c. 1846, both in Belfast.  They were Church of Ireland; father William Alderdice, mother N/K.  They both married in St. Anne's Belfast (now Cathedral?) if that's a helpful pointer at all.

Hi

On 1851 Census Ann is said to have been born in Stubbington (ie Titchfield parish) and on 1861 Census Wickham (no trace of her baptism, but quite a few VECKs).  Nothing obvious in Nonconformist records either.

Dear Vic
Thank you very much for the info re Titchfield baptisms - very helpful but I'm not sure it's the right Ann.  The Ann I am interested in was born c. 1785 - 91 according to Census records & death certificate - she died aged 80 in 1868.  The Titchfield connection is very important however.  I will continue to nose around the problem!

Hi Hanes teulu and aghadowey

Many thanks for both your replies.  The point about residence of parents is salutory - thanks for reminding me.  It's so easy to assume too much or too little!

I will try to look at the Belfast News Letter article, as I think some of this newspaper is available online.  If 'civil bill officer' is another way of describing a bailiff it could give me some leads, so thanks again.

Melbell.

Hello Nell

OK, does anyone know anything about the Ann Vack who married a John Nicholson on 3rd February 1805 at Gosport Holy Trinity? Both parties described themselves as 'of this parish' and were married after banns.  One of the witnesses to the marriage was Daniel Vack, possibly Ann's father.  I am trying to find out where/when Ann was born/baptised.

(This is just one aspect of a large complicated problem to do with this couple).
Thanks,
Melbell.

Hello

Is anyone researching VECK/VACK families in Hampshire please?

I have a big, long-standing brickwall that I'd love to break through - with a little help.

Thank you,
Melbell.
