World War One / Private Albert Dale - Fromelles
« on: Monday 25 May 09 20:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help with information on a relative who died at Fromelles in 1916.
His name was Albert Dale, he was born in 1895 in Rusper, Sussex and died 19/07/1916 in Fromelles, France.
He was in the 2nd/6th Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. His army number was 6066.
I believe his name is on the Loos Memorial.

I was recently reading an article in my local paper that my grandfather spotted.  As we have the name Dale in our family tree, he asked me to do some searching as to the family of this man. It turned out Albert Dale was the brother of my great grandfather.

I have emailed the address that was in the newspaper/on the Fromelles website, and am hoping to hear back soon.

Thanks in advance,
Hannah

I am interested in finding out as much as possible about Albert Dale and his regiment.

Hi Chana (you to Ruskie  ;D)

The reason there is no listing for 6066 Private Albert Dale, 2/6th Warwicks, is simply because Fedelmar and I are researching the Australian soldiers buried at Pheasant Wood and posted details of a few of them here.   The assistance we have received here has been magnificent and I'm sure if you start a thread about Albert, you'll also find people jumping in with excellent information.

If you would like to read more about the British soldiers and register yourself as a descendant of the family, go to the CWGC's 'Remembering Fromelles' website at: http://www.cwgc.org/fromelles/?page=english/the-project/casualty_lists

Cheers,
Tim L.

Hi Tim,

That would explain it, thank you.
I emailed them yesterday to say I thought I was, just waiting to hear back now.
I have a very limited knowledge of Albert Dale, so that may be a good way to get information.

Thank you.
Hannah

Sorry for bumping the thread, but I've searched the site and cannot find a thread for Private Albert Dale.

I've recently found that my family are decendants of a brother of Albert Dale. However, I do realise we are not direct ancestors.

Thanks.
