Was opium a readily available "social" drug in the 1920s. I have come across a person who, in 1925, on her death cert is shown as cause of death "Paralyses of respiratory centre caused by Opium Poisoning - self administered"
Or did she decide to commit suicide although this is not recorded?

thanks ever so much. I have spent most of today trying to get this info and just do not understand why putting the info in SP for all districts just keeps throwing up "nothing" - really frustrating but probably me!!! Also found a daughter Maggie so kids now up to 8

Having no luck finding Andrew after 1881. He was born 1841 to Archibald and Margaret (Little) in Jedburgh.
He married Hall Wright 12 June 1863 and she died 1899. DC shows her as a widow. They had 6 children. Son Robert is the informant on her DC.
Have tried to find Andrew in 1891 census and also his death but to no avail (Scots People).
Any ideas please

thanks very much for the link, unfortunately, even with his birth date he does not appear in the USA.
What a shame - his sister Crawford married in Scotland (1918) and went to Canada and he does not appear to have contacted them either.

Trying to trace my Grandmothers brother Andrew Tobit born 1890 in Crosscauseway, Crail, Fife, Scotland. The family then moved to Stanley to work in the Mills. Andrews Fa was John Tobit (born East Sussex, England 1852, died Percy St, Stanley 1924). Mo was Helen Taylor (born Crail 1853, died Percy St, Stanley 1924). Married 1874 Shore, Crail.
In the 1911 Scottish census Andrew was single with his parents in Percy St, Stanley, Perthshire and was a belt weaver.
I believe he may have moved to Calgary SS Scandinavia left Glasgow 23 Mar and arrived Halifax, Nova Scotia 1 April 1912.
Not having much luck in Canada - could he have moved to the USofA???
Anyone help please !!!

My G G Grandfather James Taylor was lost at sea (SS Albion) in Dec 1855. His son Andrew George was born in Aug 1856 and his BC states his name and underneath "(posthumous)". He was not a still birth - lived for 81 years!!!
