Oh silly me.  :-[

Hello Pauline

On 1881 census they were....

Victor BLAKE, 40
Mary Ann Blake, 42
with children: Charles, 13, Sabina, 10, Mary, 3, Ernest, 6 and George, 1.
(Although the ages of Ernest and George are the wrong way around)

Actually I was hoping some one could find her in the 1851/61 census, with her Mum and Dad when I started the post and realized that it might be easier to find her in 1871 by the time  had finished and forgot to change the title.... sorry about that.  :(

Hilary

Thanks Bryant,

Ahhhh.... Ealing, well that's what comes of not knowing your English counties and districts. What looked clearly to be a 'C' untill now, I can see actually has a faded upper part which is obviously an 'E'.  :)

I was forgetting about the Boer War.... There is a good chance that he went, and it may be a family thing as his son went to WW2 for Australia.

I haven't heard of the census decoder before, it sounds interesting and definately a new option for me.

Thank you for your help
Hilary.

Thank you for your efforts Kris.

Lancashire is such a long way from Brentford.....
Otherwise it could be him, because he was a builders labourer.

The family story has it that Victor (senior) either died or left the family when Victor (junior) was young and Alice re-married.
Victor jr. hated this man and left the family home at about 16 or 17 years of age and worked his way to Australia aboard various ships. Eventually arriving here at about 21 years of age.

Thanks again for your help
Hilary

Hello,

I am trying to find Victor Charles HARDY

The only info. I have is from his son's birth cert.

He was a builders labourer and married to Alice Maggie Hardy formerly Ward.

They were living at 102 Murray Road, Caling when their son Victor Charles was born on the 13th November 1906.
The birth was registered in Brentford, Middlesex.

There was an older brother William.

I have found a marriage record for Alice Maggie WARD for Septemer 1896, Holborn, London, M'sex. There are only 3 names on the record 1 male and 2 females and Victor's name doesn't appear  :(

I know this isn't much to go on but I'm hoping someone can find them on the 1901 census for me  :)

Thanks muchley
Hilary

I hope someone can help me find Mary Ann COOPER

I have her in 1881 census which lists her birthplace as Islington M'sex.
She was married to Victor BLAKE
with children: Charles, Sabina, Mary, Ernest and George.
Living at 20 Astley Street, Camberwell, Surrey.
I think they married in 1866.

I also have her on George's birth cert. (b. 15th Sep 1874)
The address on this cert. is 49 Elslede (I think, it is hard to read) Street, Walworth.

Perhaps you could find her in the 1871 census.
I think she would be married to Victor BLAKE by then.
Possibly in Camberwell already  ???

Any help will be very much appreciated,
Regards
Hilary

Hi there,

I originally posted this in the regular look up page and Sylviaann said I might have better luck here. She searched in the Bethnal Green and Whitechapel areas but couldn't find them......

I don't know the areas at all, is West Hackney the same as Bethnal Green/Whitechapel??

Anyway my original request was:

Could someone please do a look-up in the 1851 and 1861 Census, in Hackney, Middlesex.

I'm looking for Sawyer's in the Hackney area,

Father - William Sawyer
Mother - Catherine Sawyer (nee Francis)
Children that I know about:
Mathias David Sawyer - b. 5th Nov 1843, West Hackney (have cert.)
James Sawyer - b. 28th Feb 1848, West Hackney (have cert.)
Their adderss on both birth certificates was: 11 Downham Road, West Hackney.

I'm hoping to see other children to these parents

Thank you
Hilary
