Hello MrBee,

How far have you progressed with your research of the family ?

If you can let us know more some more information on where you are upto, maybe we can all have a go at trying to help you find out some more information.

Regards

Sarah

Hello Setraynor,

I do not have any connection with our family.

It may be worth posting where you are currently upto with any section of your research. This then poses a question for any researcher to help or give you some advice.

Regards

Sarah :)

Hi Jean,

I have found some interesting links for Ripley,

http://www.ripley.lancsngfl.ac.uk/oldsite/History.html

It seems that it first opened as an orphanage in 1853 by 1864 it was re-opened as a school for over 300 Children.

Leighton Hall was the historic home of the world-renowned Gillow furniture making family, perhaps here is a clue ?

Perhaps the main record centre in Lancaster may have records for Leighton Hall, it is worth a try ;)

Hi Brian,

Gosh this is many, many years ago !

Have you managed to find a baptism for Thomas Wilcock this may indicate the Parish where he could have possibly married.

Hi Guys,

To add to Bobs post,  a trip to the local Library may help !

If you browse the maps for the area it will give you a rough guide to the date it was built. They may be able to help more with your builder but I guess it would depend on the year that it was built.

Hi Corney,

I do not know of any other Devil's Bridges other than you have mentioned.

What is the earliest concrete evidence that you have about the Durham family ? Perhaps with some more details we can work from there.

Sarah :)
