 thanks for the info on ann florida m8,
il buy you both a pint for the help you both gave ;D
i will have to pop up the reference libarary and see what i can find out about the family,  will have to have a look for  the name ann florida( i never knew her name till the other day)  looks like the family tree  just got a bit bigger ;)
  ref william  anstice from pill to pill we now think he ran a pub called the ruperra arms down pill at some time in his life( were not sure about that)  .

william borlase (borlase on 1881 census)(  borlease on the 1871 census)(borlase on the 1861 census)
 my great great grandfather  in on the 1861
 gwent fhs census as  living in newport.
 we now no he  was from penzance.
On the 1871 Wales Census there is this family:
William Borlease, Head, 44, Master Mariner, b. (Penzance?) Cornwall.
 my 104 year old grandmother from newport (still alive)said that william borlase  was from a ship building family in penzance ?
 and that we had a sir in the family ( the borlase from cornwall).
 can any one  help.

hi all,
im looking for any info on my great great grandfather  william borlease from cornwall
 (the family name is spelt  borlase on the 1881 census for newport)
 he is on the 1871 census
William Borlease, Head, 44, dob 1827 .Master Mariner, b. (Penzance?) Cornwall.

that's the william borlease iv been looking for,
we seem to have drop the e in borlease by the the 1881 census.
the family been looking for him for many a year.
i will have to tell his granddaughter tomorrow,
she 104 years and lives in newport.

hi all,    i  must say just found this site and im hooked,

 im looking for any information  on my family from st george in gloucester.
on the 1881 census there living at 33 ruperra st  newport
(1) william anstice (w) born in  1809 at St George's, Gloucester
he was a dockmaster,we been trying to find out what docks it was,
(2) the name of his late wife if possible.
(3) his daughter was sarah ann borlase (w)  born in 1833 at St George's, Gloucester
we think she was married to a sea captain william borlase ,  we dont no his age or where he was born  could be st George's / newport / Cornwall?
we think he was taking ill at sea and past away at newport.
