Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Berkley Grange, Yorkshire look up what county/village

Hi,
I have just started looking at this site and I realize I may be giving you information you already have, but just in case you dont here goes.
I dont know if you have ever visited Birkby, but it is a small hamlet, no more than a church and a cluster of farms.
The church ( st. peters ) will be a mine of information for you as every way you turn your head in the small graveyard you will see the name Philips. I am sure the church register must have generations of information for you. The phone number for the church is 01325 377274. Maybe a call will get you some help from a friendly vicar or church member.
I know this because if you check out the 1961 census you will see that my family were neighbours of the Philips. ( WHITLOCK of Church Hill farm )
P.S. I may be pointing out the obvious here but you are aware that there is a "Birkby" grange
the grange you are looking for couldnt be a spelling mistake could it ?
Good luck Flossy
