That's a good point.

Rosa Lacey, born 1852, is buried with her mother Sarah Collins, in the St Kilda cemetery, but with no headstone.

And perhaps the first-born Thomas, who died pre 1851, was indeed Thomas Lacey.

Further down the line, Lacey appears several times, as you can by clicking on the Tree tab at

http://www.family-trees.com.au/genealogy/individual.php?pid=I14091&ged=Family%20Tree.ged

You have been of great assistance, thank you!

Thanks for that, keyboard.

It must be my eyesight.  I read the word in the fourth column above "Dau" as "Head", not "Married".

Sorry!

Thanks again, lightning keyboard!

This has been moving very fast!  Now we have the right family, yes, we can order a birth certificate.

I see on the 1851 Census Sarah describes herself as head of the household, head of 8 children after the first Thomas Jr died.  Another child,  Rosa Lacey Collins, was born before she emigrated.  Perhaps Sarah was pregnant with Rosa and widowed (or abandoned?) when the Census taker called?

Any sign of the death of Thomas Sr around 1851?  I cannot find it.

Thanks again

Thank you keyboard86, or should I call you lightning!

That looks certain to be the correct family.

Thank you very much.

Now we are on a roll, do you have the means of checking the marriage of Thomas and Sarah?  She was possibly Sarah Lacey.

And it seems Sarah journeyed to Australia without her husband Thomas.  Would you have any way of finding out if she was widowed prior to 1854?

Would anyone know, please, of the parents of Charles Collins b 1841 at Chesham

We think Charles and his siblings emigrated to Australia in 1854.

Details of Charles' descendants are at

http://www.family-trees.com.au/        (then search for Charles Collins)

Any additional info and corrections will be welcomed.

Thanks in anticipation

Ireland / HENNESSY from Ireland
« on: Saturday 18 June 11 02:07 BST (UK)  »
Here is a difficult one.

We believe our Irish Hennessy ancestors boarded 'Maryborough' at Liverpool and arrived in Melbourne (Oz) 11 December 1863.

The Hennessy family in December 1863 consisted of:

Simon age 38 (b abt 1825)
Mary age 35 (b abt 1828)
Catherine age 11 (b abt 1852)
Thomas age 10 (b abt 1853)
Martin age 8 (b abt 1855)
James age 3 (b abt 1860)
Eden (infant)

Has anyone noticed birth records for this family, or a marriage record for Simon and Mary?

Further info on what we believe are their descendants are at

http://www.family-trees.com.au/

Any suggestions will be welcomed!

Thanks in advance

Australia / Re: Advice needed re Queensland Births

Hello annclare

This is an old thread, but if you are still watching, here is a long shot for you.

Around 1850 there is a marriage of Hennessy and Tuohy in Victoria.  Husband and wife are reversed, but perhaps the two families had a gathering . . . .

It is at    http://www.family-trees.com.au/

Then search for  Tuohy

Good luck
